A great day or half day out. You can say 1 or 2 hours at each location and spoilt for choice. Removes any worries of drink driving and adds to the fun. Yes, there are some bus rides and even tractor trailer but so well organised. Staff were friendly and fun. Well worth every penny.

Spent the day following the red line and had a lovely lunch at the Leopard Leap winery. The tram and buses are good fun and all the lodges we visited were stunning but at times it did all feel a little rushed with very rigid departure times and by the end it felt a little like a sophisticated stag do.

When you're the designated driver, it's nice to have a break. the wine tram was good fun, especially towards the evening. gave us a good amount of time at each venue, and can keep the wines for you to collect at the ticket office.
We bought tickets in advance on line, but you can book it at the main office, which is near Pick 'n Pay.
There are 3 routes, which are also reversed with 1 starting with bus, other with tram and vice versa.
You can realistically do about 5/6 in a full day, we left at 10am . try the bubbly , really good.

We really enjoyed the Blue Line route - La Bri, Rickety Bridge and Grande Provence in particular. Staff at Rickety Bridge were wonderful when we arrived ravenous as there hadn't been any opportunity to eat at Holden Manz (a disappointing stop as we were seated in a tented area at the rear of the property as they were hosting a wedding! We felt they should have declined the wine tour that day). Platters at Rickety Bridge were delicious - generous portions of cheese and meats..... The wine tram is a real 'must' when visiting Franshhoek; very professionally run, always at each stop on time, and offers a great opportunity to experience some very different vineyards.
