I had lunch here today. The decor is lovely, the service is gracious, and the food is superb. For $11.99 you get a choice of soup or salad, an appetizer, an entree, and coffee, tea, or a soft drink. The Turkish bread is fabulous (it comes from the bakery across the street). The Turkish tea is wonderful. I had the chicken kabob and it was moist and flavorful. I've eaten in many Turkish restaurants and this is the best so far.

Toros, a Turkish restaraunt has three locations in New Jersey.

I visited the Clifton location with a co-worker for lunch.

Not knowing what to expect, I couldn't have had a better time.

They offer a three course lunch special consisting of a soup or salad, an appetizer, and an entree.

I had the red lentil soup, babakanosche, and a ground lamb kabob with white and red rice.....fantastic

I suggest that you try the Turkish tea, you won't be disappointed.

Now that I've tried their lunch, I can't wait to return with my wife for dinner.

I prefer the Clifton version at 489 Hazel St. Only a few blocks from the Main St loc, but a MUCH nicer atmosphere has been created in this old house.
The authentic food is just terrific! The service is warm and friendly (ask for Sveda, she's very helpful). The atmosphere is lush with many beautiful examples of Turkish art and furnishings, giving you a real sense of old world comforts. And the wine lit is reasonably priced, esp for the better quality wines.
Go early, as the later it gets the busier it gets. By 9pm things are really bustling. You'll be full, but leave a little room for Turkish coffee & Baklava. The desserts are worth the calories.

This was our third time at this restaurant and it just keeps getting better. The basic appetizers, Hummus, Babagannush and Acili Ezme (spicy vegetable salad) were excellent, and a great way to start the meal. The grill dishes of Tavuk Kebab (chicken), and Adana Kebab (skewered ground lamb) were wonderfully spiced and perfectly cooked. The Hinkar Begendi (baked pieces of lamb served over an eggplant puree) was stupendous and the Kuzu Incik (lamb shank) tender and delicious. The service was attentive, and you got the feeling that the waitresses were recently arrived from Turkey, and eager to please. We had no room left for dessert, but there is a Turkish bakery across the street that makes the best Baklava ever (walnuts or pistachio), and they are happy to serve up 4-6-8 pieces for dessert later that night at home.
