We stayed here last year. The owner was renovating so we let a few little things go by. But this year, hoping that things would be better, we were disappointed. When we checked in, after waiting for the room to be cleaned, both white comforters were stained. On one bed, the bed sheet was stain with something red (?). The second bed sheets were dirty. Bath towels were stained as well. I went to the front desk the manager personally changed the bed sheets and comforters. But while he was doing that he removed the mattress liner protector and left it on the bed while he step out of the room to get more linens. We noticed a big round yellow stain (as a parent you can only imagine what it is). I thought that he was removing it but when he got back he actually was putting it back on the bed. I asked him to remove it and change it to a new one. He said: the liner will not touch you it has a cover. But I insisted and he changed it. He blamed the previous guests instead of just apologizing. For the $190 a night that we are paying, there should be clean linens. Outside of the room, the trash can was not emptied. Coffee was leaking from the trash can and the next day it was all dried up on the floor. Cleanness is not their priority. The furniture is very dated in the room. We will not be returning. It's unfortunate because of the location.

This place will charge $40 no matter how long before your check in you cancel your reservation. My guess is they make $$ on cancellations, so if don't you like being ripped off or dealing with crooks and attitudes, keep looking.

I was participating in a bike event - Multiple Sclerosis and this was one of the few hotels with vacancy when I booked it.
The room is mediocre. I was told in advance that room was pet friendly and may have an odor but main issue was bed seemed old. You can hear the springs as you turn over.
The bathroom has glass doors which should be cleaner. The rails were dirty and toilet needed to be "giggled" so the water doesn't run all night.

The flat screen TV was so dark it was difficult to see image. They should invest in newer tvs.

We were very happy with our stay.

It's not fancy, and the property is old, but it is well-maintained, reasonably clean, conveniently located, priced well, and has friendly staff.

The hotel pool is small, but was clean, and not crowded.

The room was decent sized. The beds were comfortable. Staff was accommodating (we checked in very late, and we requested extra towels, and had no problems).

The walk to the boardwalk was only a couple of blocks.

The only negative we noticed was mildew in the bathroom, but it's an old hotel, and by the ocean, so this isn't unexpected, especially for a hotel in this price range.

Tradewinds is a good option for economy vacations in Ocean City.

If you think about the core elements that make a solid shore vacation -- a clean, comfortable, affordable room in proximity to beach, boardwalk and good restaurants, with free parking and a decent pool -- this place delivers. Nothing here is going to wow you, but collectively, it all works. Had a nice stay there last weekend. Staff is working hard to upgrade the old place and pays attention to guests. If you go, park in the large lot in the rear - plenty of space. Try Auggie's across the street for breakfast (cash only) and Cinco de Mayo for great authentic Mexican on West near 10th, a block away. But there are plenty of options within walking distance nearby, as well as the nice downtown area.

Room Tip: All rooms surround the pool on two levels, but noise wasn't a factor.
