“Relaxing secluded getaway!”
Reviewed 29 March 2011

We just spent 2 nights at the Summer Cottage Inn and it was wonderful. We stayed in the Wicker Garden room which is to the back of the house and has it's own entrance, and small porch with wicker rockers. The room was a tad small but non the less comfortable and cozy. We understand the the room is going to be enlarged. Patrick and Jean the innkeepers were so personable and made you feel right at home and it was as if you'd known them forever. Patrick is a great storyteller and can tell you about every resturant and sight to see. The food at breakfast was beyond words, the first morning Jean prepared baked pancakes and the next Patrick made a mac n cheese casserole without the mac. Tea time was another treat, with various teas and cookies and cake. The Inn is located within walking distance of Washington St Mall, the beach and many restaurants. They also have bikes you can use and even chairs for the beach.
Our room had a refrigerator in the room, but in the mail house there is a small kitchen that all guests can use that has a microwave and fridge and is stocked with tea, hot chocolate and coffee.

The only downfall is NO parking which is not mentioned on their website. Being off season we only ended parking about a block away but my companion is handicapped and often in a wheelchair so during the height of summer parking would be a big problem. We would recommend the Inn and can't wait to go back.

We stayed at the Summer Cottage Inn for Sherlock Holmes weekend. The innkeepers Jean and Patrick were very friendly and helpful. For breakfast (which was very good both days), you had the option of being seated in the dining room or at one of the small tables set up in the parlor. We chose to sit in front of the fireplace for our meals. There is a frig on the 3rd Floor where you can store any drinks and leftovers from dining out you may have. For afternoon tea we had the option of a few different homemade cookies or snacks. The rooms are very nice w/ the only shortcoming that the tvs in the room are very small. No big deal beacuse you 're not at a B&B to watch tv. The inn is located within easy walking distance of the mall and the beach. When we do Sherlock Holmes weekend again, this is where we are going to stay!

This is our second stay at this B&B and we had a great experience. I think there are B&B's that can give a more personable experience and more gourmet breakfast but you cannot beat the location or price. We needed a 1-night stay on short notice and this one filled the bill perfectly. There also doesn't appear to be on site parking.

We love Bed and Breakfasts and Cape May, NJ is one of our favorite destinations. We have stayed in six different B&Bs in Cape May and the Summer Cottage is the only one we have stayed in twice. Both times, we felt welcomed and comfortable. Patrick, the inn keeper, is friendly and an entertaining storyteller! We laughed and laughed as we enjoyed a tasty breakfast. The inn is on Columbia Avenue, within easy walking distance of the center of town and many fine restaurants.
