My boyfriend and I stayed at PSI for the weekend to celebrate our four year anniversary, he proposed on the beach this past Saturday!! We had such a wonderful time. We had a great connection with the staff. Thank you Meg, Bridgette, Marie, and JoAnn. You all made us feel not only welcome during our stay, but also very special!! Everyone was so friendly and the service was truly outstanding. The ambiance and atmosphere was superb throughout the whole Inn. We loved our room, we loved the cheese and wine hour, and we highly recommend Peter Shields Inn to anyone visiting Cape May. We live in center city Philadelphia and dine at some of the best places the city has to offer. We dined at PSI on both Friday and Saturday evening for dinner. We found that the presentation, service, and quality of the food certainly ranks as high as the best restaurants of Philadelphia without spending $$$$. We had such fun with our waiter Chris on Friday, he was warm, genuine, and very professional. He toasted us on Saturday night after finding out about the engagement!! Such memorable staff and a pleasurable experience.

We would like to share some positives about PSI and then some improvements warranted. The staff is welcoming and vested in the business. The renovations of the first floor are first class and beautiful. Location is awesome as it is across fromt the beach. We did not eat at the restaurant for dinner but on Saturday night it was packed. The servers are very pleasant and conscientious. Fresh flowers everywhere. I felt the breakfast was mediocre. For the price, having two meats included(bacon and sausage) should not break the bank. We had to pick one. We were unable to use our parking space Saturday night because someone dining parked there. We had to park down the street and that was unfair as we paid for that space included in our room reservation. There is a sign at the back entrance that the back lot was for guests but it is not lighted so it is difficult to see in the night. Possibly lighting the sign might help solve this issue.
Our room was the largest. #4. The bed was so comfortable and cozy, King Size. But no end tables for reading glasses, cell phone or books. Or lights. The heating system is antiquated and we were not given directions on how to use it. We had to ask. It was a very cold and windy weekend and the room was drafty and chilly. The windows are old and the rooms are in desperate need of remodeling. I know that remodeling is planned but until then, we will not return. The wallpaper in our room had separated from the wall and it was definately a mixture of Victorian pieces. There was limited sound proofing between the floors and it was VERY noisy. While sitting in the living room area reading, my Husband was able to listen to some very private conversations and the like coming from other rooms! Maybe carpeting in the rooms would lessen the noise. The people upstairs sounded like they were moving furniture at 7 a.m. So that was when our vacation days started. There is no micro fridge in the room. Which we have had other B&Bs. Our bathroom was large with alot of walking space. The closet is in the bathroom as there is no closet in the bedroom. More hooks or larger towel racks are needed. The shower stall was clean. Please consider a bigger shower when remodeling for larger men and women. We are average size and it was fine. In conclusion, when the upgrades to the rooms are completed, I imagine it will be completed is great taste. Unfortunately, we were disppointed with our visit.

My husband and I joined my brother and sister-in-law for a perfect Presidents Day overnight stay! The B&B was just wonderful from the check-in to check-out! We had previously stayed there five years ago when Bridget (the manager) married my niece and nephew on the beach across the street. We stayed in the same rooms but this time enjoyed the wonderful amenities the PSI had to offer. These included an in-room gas fireplace, Bose music, the 4:30 wine and cheese get together, the midnight homemade cookies and coffee.
Dinner was included in our package, very attentive wait staff, gourmet dining, wine and champagne! So nice being pampered. We tipped generously because gratuities weren't included so bring extra cash because the staff deserves it. Tips went to dining wait staff at dinner and breakfast and the housekeeping staff.
What we did enjoy was just relaxing around the fireplace and parlor areas with other travelers. The talks were wonderful as we discussed everything with the newlyweds and soon-to-be married couples we met. Such interesting and fun clientele who all had one thing in common - leaving the schedule behind!
I recommend the PSI for adults only! It is BYOB, glasses, ice and bar needs are available. Chat with the staff, Bridget Fowler is the manager and attends to all your needs. We shared our nieces wedding pictures and no wonder brides choose the PSI to marry here!

We stayed for one night (way to short of a visit) In October 2011 at the Peter Shield's Inn. We needed a quick getaway for our 11 year anniversary and we couldn't have picked a better spot. We stayed in guest room two which I highly recommend because it has a second floor ocean view. The room itself is small but cozy, bathroom is a nice size and the bed (very comfy) faces the front window and you can literally lie in bed and see the ocean.....soooo relaxing! Breakfast was amazing with lemon ricotta pancakes, fresh squeezed orange juice, fruit and wonderful coffee. They offer you bikes, beach chairs and umbrellas so you are covered. The Innkeeper and staff could not be nicer or more accomodating. Beautiful grounds, relaxing front porch where we had wine and cheese in the afternoon with other guests. We love Cape May and now that we have found the Peter Shields Inn, we love it even more. We will DEFINITELY be back.

The PSI is a top notch B&B. In a charming old home, the rooms are attractive and comfortable, withe gas fireplaces, oversized chairs and views of the ocean. Breakfasts were substantial, and dinner in their restaurant first class. The staff was great..especially Bridget!
