“Watch out for the weekends!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 November 2011

My wife and I stayed here over a weekend recently...the weekend that the freak snow storm hit. Kudos to the staff...with power out they managed to provide box dinners, glowsticks and a cold breakfast buffet that was just fine, all the while maintaining a great and patient attitude at the front desk. This is a fine old inn, with comfortable rooms and plenty of nooks to relax in if that's what you want. I imagine it would be serene on weekdays, but this property clearly caters to weddings on weekends, and so getting a good night's sleep is pretty much off the table, as raucous drunks rule the night. I give it an average rating of 4, with a high of 5 if there were no drunks, and a 3 as it was for us. My only other gripe would be the high charge for room internet connection, although there is a station on one of the hidden nooks where free access is available. The wait might be a tad long though.

Room Tip: The quality of your earplugs is more important than your room location!

Booked two rooms for 4 nights (during the week) on business because I needed to work Northern New Jersey into New York City, which is but an hour away by car if you avoid rush hour traffic. The Inn itself is charming, with well appointed lobby, plush carpeted hallways and very comfortable rooms, it was perfect for conducting meetings and maintaining a hectic business schedule. The restaurant across the parking lot was outstanding for food, drink and atmosphere. The room comes with a terrific hot breakfast. The staff is stoic and not terribly friendly which is why I rate "very good" instead of "excellent". Overall, I would recommend to anyone.

The Olde Mill Inn is a beautiful, well-kept old-style hotel, but due to it's speciality of hosting all-night, screaming, food-fighting, hallroom wedding drunkfests right outside your hotel room door, with no interest on the part of night staff to control their guests, it is not a place for the serious business traveler who needs a good night's sleep. When it comes to the O.M.I., you can forget sleeping altogether!

The breakfast is more than adequate, but get there early, as the staff begin removing food from the buffet more than an hour before the posted closing time in order to be out promptly.

Great price, expensive internet, adolescent drunk house in a classy setting.

Unless you're an Animal House fanatic, your first time here will thankfully be your last!

Room Tip: Good Luck!

The Management and Staff at the Olde Mill Inn would like to express how unhappy we are to hear that any of our guests did not have a pleasant experience at our Hotel. We do host numerous wedding during the course of a season and unfortunately some of the attendees may not be respectful of their fellow guests; in most cases, there are no issues such as those mentioned in this review. We do have professional security for just such a reason and if the occasion arises, wherein there is a disturbance, we address the complaint immediately. We in no way condone or host any sort of activity described in this review and absolutely regret that anyone, whether it be business or leisure travel, should have anything but the best night’s sleep and the most comfortable of accommodations.

The hotel is very pretty, and has the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. However, the front desk service was extremely stuck up borderline rude and expect to wait around if there is a wedding going on. I am here on business and the Internet that you have to pay for (which is bad enough) is not At all reliable. It is constantly disconnecting. Also the water pressure is horrible while showering.

I stayed here one night for business. I felt very comfortable and at home. The hotel is adjacent to the Grain restaurant on site and had to be one of the best places I have ever eaten. There is a courtyard that is extremely tranquil and inviting. The front desk staff were absolutely there to help with any needs. This will be a top destination for me when in the area again.
