Parking is the issue here. There's no garage, and if you've got more than you can carry comfortably in one trip, forget staying here. Staff was awkward and pre-occupied and did not extend themselves upon arrival. Used my points for the room, so I wasn't surprised that I didn't receive an upgrade or breakfast on the house upon check-in. Still, a Silver HH member should, if there's availability. (If I had paid for the room, it would have been $300+.) King bed and amenities were excellent.
Outside, on the Saturday night we stayed, the streets were abuzz with kids and adults and traffic.
On Sunday morning, my husband and I enjoyed the pool area, which is a bit nicer than a typical Hampton Inn, for example, although the room was just as nice as the Hampton Inn we stayed in the prior night. Portsmouth, as a town, did nothing for me, and I've been there several times. It's trying to "be something," and I give the residents credit, but I'm glad we didn't stay longer than overnight. Food in town was equally unimpressive.More
