Stowe was our destination for a Saturday-Sunday ski trip last weekend. The Lamplighter Inn was a fine stop for the Friday evening stay. By staying here, we had comfortable rest and a pleasant and shorter drive early Saturday morning. We arrived at nearly 11pm. The office check in by the owner himself was friendly, smooth, and quick->straight to the cozy room waiting. Room #14 with a single king bed is spacious, clean, and newly updated. Not at all fancy, but was very reasonably priced compared to the other nearby inns for our quick rest.
We have stayed at many elegant hotels around the world, with prices reflecting their reputation and gleaming front lobbys, and then disappointed by the lack of very basic cleanliness and unreliable staff. This time, we needed simply clean bed and responsibly managed accomodations and received exactly that. The Lamplighter has been recently updated by the new owners and its clear that they take pride in their work they've done at their Inn.
I would stay here again and recommend it like-minded travelers who would like to save their money, break up their ride north, or their visits to local attractions.
Thank you for keeping the lamp on for us on that icy night.
