This historic hotel is gorgeous outside, and sitting on the porch in one of many rocking chairs is a treat. The beds were comfy and the room clean (and housekeeping automatically gave us fresh towels every day), but the carpets and paint are worn, not "historic." My boys loved riding in the vintage elevator and proclaimed the hotel "cool." However, there is NO AIR CONDITIONING, a fact I missed when I booked it, and though the room had a fan in each window, it was muggy during our stay and a bit unpleasant. For $150+ per night, I'd like a/c, thank you. We were also informed at check-in that children were not allowed in one of the restaurants after 5:30, and THAT info was NOT on the website. (We were 2 families with 4 kids total, so we ate off-premises.) The pool is small but clean, and the golf course is beautiful. B/c the hotel is 130 years old, noise travels easily, and if you don't make an effort to tread lightly, each step sounds like a thump. Thought the folks above us were an acrobatic troupe. This hotel would probably be a great stay in the cooler months when a/c isn't an issue, and probably better for travelers without children.

Dear MaggieS25,
We appreciate all guest comments and we are installing air conditioners as we speak this is a process and should be complete soon. In the summer months we offer three choices for dining: family dining in Highfields Restaurant located just off the lobby, the Veranda family dining(most popular) outside dining on the Veranda or adult dining in the Eagle Landing Tavern all dining hours are 5:30-9p and all menu choices may be ordered from any dining spot. I am sorry for the confusion and do hope that you try us again. The food is excellent and there is something on the menu for everyone. Thank you again for taking your time to write your review and hope to see you back!

I stayed here for around a week (awful memory) in April 2012. The hotel is old fashioned but if you can look past this then it's full of charm and character. Food was amazing with great variety and staff always wanted to help! If you want a cosy getaway, this is the place. Can imagine it's amazing at Christmas!

We stayed here for three nights and we were very impressed with the hotel. The rooms are not modern but they are very well kept. We really liked the heritage character of the facilities, but I could see that some may not enjoy that character as much as we did.

The staff at the hotel was excellent and really went out of their way to ensure we had an enjoyable stay. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Thank you so much for the wonderful review, our rooms are spacious and clean in which we take great pride. The Eagle Mountain House is registered with the Historic Hotels! I think we could agree it so beautiful and full of New England charm. There is just no beating the views and sitting on the large Veranda in one of our rockers enjoying the peacefulness of Jackson. Hope to see you back soon!

We initially came to play golf for my husband's birthday. We were accompanied by our daughter & future son-in-law. The ProShop manager Phil was very friendly and got us off to a great start for the day. The 9 hole race course was fun and the scenery was beautiful. Very quite and peaceful. The course had some nice par 3 holes and a few challenging par 4 and 5 holes. The course was fun and not too daunting for a beginner.

After play the 9day holes we then had lunch on the veranda. It was beautiful. The lunch menu was reasonably priced. The food was amazing!!!!!! I had an amazing gespacho and roast beef and boursin sandwhich, very tasty and well presented. My daughter's flatbread pizza was delicious, as was the ruben that my husband and future son-in-law had. The best part of the experience was the wait staff. They were all very friendly and attentive to our needs. We felt very welcomed. We had enjoyed playing the first 9 holes so much so that we played another 9 holes.

All in all we had a marvelous time. We will definitely be back and will bring other friends and family with us!! We want to thank the staff for such a pleasant experience and for making my hisband's birthday so memorable!!!

Just had a terrific dinner on the porch. Pam took excellent care of us. Wine list is in transition, but she was able to find a wine to our liking. Great experience, we will be back.

Dear Localette,

The staff and I appreciate you taking the time to comment on your recent dinner on the Veranda. The entire dining experience has been well received with panoramic views of the White Mountains while relaxing on the Veranda. Everyone knows in New England that dining outside is a special event that is short lived and something special.

I am glad you enjoyed your dinner, we look forward to your return.

Regards,

Craig Boyer
