My sister and I recently stayed at the Hillcrest Inn to celebrate her 70th birthday. We arrived around 2:00 on a Tuesday afternoon. The young man working the desk was very friendly and helpful, carrying our luggage up to the 2nd floor (no elevators). Parking was down the street and you are given an assigned spot. It can be tricky backing out! The hotel is old but was clean and neat. We were in room 15 - 2 double beds with a balcony. They still have keys to open your door which I haven't seen in years! The room is on the small side but we were only there to change and sleep so it didn't matter. There are 2 night tables, one bureau and a small fridge. A nice, strong air conditioner kept us cool. There is no closet, just a thing sticking out of the wall with hangers on it. The bathroom was clean and came with shampoo/conditioner, soap and some makeup remover wipes. Plenty of towels. The balcony has a table and 4 chairs with a great view. If your neighbors are on their balcony, they are right there, no privacy but everyone just seemed to keep to themselves with a polite nod. We enjoyed a few drinks while sitting out there, watching people go by. There is a nice pool but we had to ask where it was! Go down the hall on the first floor, and the door to the pool is on the left, go down a hall and it is kind of behind the place next door. The pool was refreshing, clean and inviting! The furniture around the pool seems very new as does the fencing around it. The surrounding houses look kind of dumpy but they are on the other side of the fence so it doesn't really matter!

We used to vacation in Hampton Beach while growing up for years and years with our family. It really hasn't changed at all! We always stayed on the back street in cottages (we were a family of 6) and used to wish that one day we could sit on the porches of the hotels on the main street! You had to be rich to stay in those hotels! While doing online searches for a hotel we realized we could afford to stay at the Hillcrest Inn, right on Ocean Boulevard! Compared to other hotels on the strip, it was affordable, coming in at least $50 a night less than the others. We finally got to sit on the porch several times to stare at the ocean and watch the people go by.

Room Tip: No elevators but they will carry your luggage up. Definitely stay on the 2nd or 3rd floor with a balcony for a great view.

The Hotel is fantastic and you can not find a better location. The owners and the staff are always friendly and make you feel at home while you are there. They also have their own swimming pool that is crystal clear and spotless. They go out of there way to make to stay a pleasant one. Their rates are very good. We have stayed there many times and we recommend it to everyone.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great rooms.

We just had our 43rd season weekly family tradition vacation up to the HillCrest. Our 5th season with the new owners who have been very accommodating since the first season they took over. We have never had a complaint and we will continue our tradition for years to come at this hotel. Perfect location that also has a heated pool for those days that are not a beach day. Pool is always crystal clear and well kept up. Rooms are beach rooms. Not a place to hang out in but they are kept up with maid service provided daily.

Have stayed here many times of the years and will be a customer for years to come. Not a 5 star hotel (or even a 4) but the location is amazing and the staff is top notch. Super friendly and helpful people. We arrived and had made a mistake and had no reservation for that night. They helped us find another place to stay and we appreciated that so much. We were on the third floor and carrying everything up would have killed me. Not to worry, young men took care of everything. Forgot my Ipad at checkout and the same young men found it and it was returned to me via UPS. I've stayed at many places where I would have never seen that Ipad again. You will love this place.

Room Tip: any of the balcony rooms will give you great views.

For basically $200 we stayed in a room that was so small it barely fit the length of a "queen" sized bed (more realistically a double). The bathroom was dirty. The non-smoking room still had ashes in an ashtray on the deck which had also not been cleaned. There is no coffee pot and two tiny towels. The lights in our room did not work. We finally left and preferred to drive three hours home than to stay there for the night. Do NOT waste your money. Of course our refund was denied as well when we said we did not like the standard of cleanliness in the room.

The coffee service is in the lobby, rooms are nonsmoking but smoking is allowed on the decks as they are open. We have staff on premises to clean and bring the room to your standard. Refund was not made as the room and parking were used the entire day.
