Great place to experience history. The Fort regularly puts on events, reenactments and annual dinner. Great place to introduce children to history.

This place is totally not worth the money. We went on a sat afternoon and the parking lot was almost empty. Quite a few of the buildings were locked and couldn't get in to see them. Skip this place.

This is a "Living Museum." The day we were there, they were weaving and cooking a stew. I loved walking around the fort with the guide book, but they have guided tours as well. One of my ancestors was in this fort and given the primitive and dangerous conditions here at the time, I am glad he survived! It was hard to believe that in 1740 they were in the wilderness at the edge of the world! I felt like I was in the Book: The Last of the Mohicans. The guides around the fort were well versed in their area of expertise and were fascinating to talk to! If you love history, you will love this museum!

Writing this review on behalf of my 11 year old after attending a 5th grade field trip. My daughter was so excited for this field trip as she really enjoys history and her teachers had described a very interesting trip for the class. She came home in tears at the disappointment after attending. They were not allowed to touch anything, many of the staff were "mean" and "rude" during presentations (she & a friend laughed at something they found amusing - they were told "children in the 1700's didn't have anything to laugh about - neither should you. Stay quiet") Were not allowed to run in the field (nowhere near any of the exhibits) or basically even breathe. Now, I took this all with a grain of salt, after all, she is 11. Until I spoke with one of the parents who actually chaperoned the trip. She confirmed my daughter's assessment of the presenters and more. Perhaps it's time to find some new historians who actually enjoy teaching children about our local history. I'm sure the fort itself is interesting, but definitely will not make a follow up visit (as we usually do after school trips) and several parents have asked that our school not continue with this trip in future. Interesting to see how long this non-profit will last if they drive away schools with their terrible attitudes towards children.

Plenty of good history information, even more if the re-enactors are on site. This is a self-guided replica but you will occasionally get re-enactors on-site.
