We happened to find this place while checking out the river walk along the Truckee river. Cozy place with a wonderful wood fire smell. Our server, Lee, was very helpful with wine pairings and had a nice friendly way about him. The apps we tried, mussels, beet salad and onion soup were all very tasty. The menu changes daily so no guarantees on what will be served but the cassoulet was about the best we've had and the duck breast was cooked perfectly rare.

I have always enjoyed my visits to Beaujolais Bistro. I love the ambience and the food. It reminds me of an intimate cafe in Paris.

We had made reservation for our anniversary three weeks in advance. The table we were given was literally next to the kitchen. The noise was too much. We were ready to leave, but the hostess offered us another table in the basement. It was quaint and much quieter.
The server was the only server in the basement area, but did have several people assisting him. He lacked personality and professionalism. He did not frequent our table to follow up on our wine. He did not provide a towel for the ice bucket so it dripped when we were pouring our wine. He did not inquire as to our meal or our needs. He was very nervous and that was very apparent.
The food was EXCELLENT.
We will NOT return, even though the food was great. The service was poor. The corkage very high ($25 per bottle). And the wine list was also high. They offered wine at $14 per glass that sells in a wine store for $20 per bottle. That is a little aggressive on the mark-up.
When ones pays as much as they charge, the experience needs to be complete. It should be great food and great service. Sadly, this was not the case.

My daughter and I were skiing in the Tahoe area and staying in Reno. After a few nights in the Casinos, we were in desperate need of a truly creative meal in a quiet setting. We found that at Beaujolais Bistro. The restaurant is in an old house and cleverly arranged to have a bar and several different seating areas. We were seated in the smallest area that looks to be an enclosed patio. It was very charming. I had the Hangar Steak with Bearnaise sauce and thoroughly enjoyed it. The french fries were the crispy thin ones you get in France and absolutely delicious. My daughter had the Venison Rack and declared it one of the best meals she has ever had. We had glasses of the house Beaujolais to accompany our meals and it was just an absolute perfect pairing. The restaurant is very accommodating. An appetizer that was a bit too salty for us was removed quickly and taken off the bill. A request to leave the ice cream off a dessert due to a lactose intolerance was replaced with a berry sorbet. We were touched with their thoughtfulness. We would never have received this attention on the strip and will definitely be returning the next time we are in the area to ski.

This was our first experience at Beaujolais. The venue is very nice. However, the food is not on a level with the prices charged and the service is in need of a professional shot in the arm.
We began with cocktails. As the waiter served the cocktails he lost control of the tray and the four of us ended up with a Manhattan drenched table. My coat was spattered and stained. That was not a problem as these things happen. The problem was the way in which the incident was handled. There was never an inquiry as to the damage to our clothing, an offer to reimburse for the necessary dry cleaning or even at the least an offer to provide the cocktails at the restaurants expense.
This is Reno, Nevada. Hospitality and service are the hallmarks of this city. Unfortunately Beaujolais is not a part of that mind set.
Putting aside the cocktail incident, the food is average at best and does not justify the prices charged. The wait time between courses in unreasonable.
In the end no apology was extended, the bill was paid, and Beaujolais will be filed away as a less than memorable experience not to be repeated.
