“Disappointed”
Reviewed 2 April 2012

My wife and I spent a couple of nights in Mesquite on our way to Arizona for the winter months. We were disappointed in the room condition of this hotel. The rooms are very old and becoming worn out .... the beds & pillows are uncomfortable. The entire facility , including the rooms, smell of smoke and can be overwhelming

The staff are friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. The room price is obviously the only benefit

Stayed there in early March of 2012. They will comp you your room if you play enough however, they only have 1 type of room. 2 queen size beds and then the choice is poolview or no poolview. The rooms look really tired and beware if someone is talking in the hallway. You will be able to hear everything they say. The doors are not sound proof. The cafe is not bad, Starbucks and Ice Cream parlor in the hotel. Never saw the buffet opened, but they say they have one. If you are a gambler, the player's club sucks. $10.00 slot play for 1 point.

The Shot Glass Golf Group (8-12 professional men in their 50's) have stayed here four years in a row - every April. The pool is great: large, clean, lots of lounge chairs and there is a pool side bar and sitting area where the cribbage games happen over a few cold beverages.

The restaurants (Katherine's and The Fez) are both very, very good. Katherine's is an upper-scale steak and seafood dining room with a terrific menu that is always well executed by the kitchen and excellent table-side service. The Fez is one of those classic "diners" that's open 24 hours and does everything well - the ribs, chicken and steaks are terrific, the breakfasts large and well prepared - and the Cobb Salad is outstanding. Staff in The Fez are busy, professional and eager to make your meal a good experience. I would be remiss to not mention the buffet, which is only open on weekends - but man, the Friday night seafood buffet is great!

The rooms could stand to be refreshed - they are dated and somewhat worn. However, the beds are very good, there's an in-room safe, and adequate TV and bathroom. The rooms, bed linens and towels are clean, and afterall, sleeping and showering is the only time you really spend in the room anyway - AND the mattresses are really comfortable...

The casino is obviously the centre of action and offers enough slots and table games for any taste. The young ladies bringing the drinks are always friendly and pleasant - and work hard for the customers. Give them a decent tip per drink and you'll never be thirsty. Yes, sometimes the Casino can be a bit smoky. Then, there's the Big Sky Lounge and Stage --- always good bands, lots of fun...lots of dancing...

Finally - a word about the staff - they are terrific! From the Front Desk to the maintenence guys - from the waiters, casino staff and bartenders to the security guards - this may be the overall happiest, most pleasant staff we have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Darrell is the golf guru - great guy. Jaimie is my favourite casino hostess and Lucy in the Fez is alway fun and ready with a comeback...Overall the CasaBlanca is excellent value for the price - as is the rest of Mesquite. If you're looking for a five-star Vegas experience - go to Bellagio or Aria.
If you want value, a friendly experience, good food and fun - head to CasaBlanca --- and don't forget to book some tee times at the CasaBlanca or Palms courses....

Room Tip: Corridors are really long - if you have mobility issues ask for a room near the elevators...

We stayed at this hotel for a golf getaway. The rooms are decent and the beds are comfortable, I have definately seen worse in Mesquite, but the rooms where kind of dirty like they did half the job and ran out of time. The pool was not open since it was early January, but it looked nice. We wanted to get a spa appointment but they were all booked and you had to make a reservation two days in advance. We were not sure what we would be doing or if we would have time so we didn't think to book in advance. The Casino is pretty boring and we had a lot of people there that we new. They do have a stagem, smalle dance area, and there was a live band, but it was really very melo, which was good in a sense. They have a few resturants in the place and that was nice, but the food was not all that great. Even at the expensive steakhouse the food was just average. That was Catherine's and I had heard great stories of the food so maybe it was just an off night, but I didn't particularly enjoy the food better than an Outback, and it was twice the cost. The one good thing was the Oysters Rockafella. They were delicious. I wish I would have ordered four more of those as my meal instead of what I did order. My boyfriend did have a Ceaser Salad that was delicious (yes I stole some of it from him), and I had the lobster bisque that people had raved about. Again it was so, so.
The casino wasn't exciting though they do have lots of tables. We went to the Eureka and there was more excitement in the air.
All in all though it was a good trip and we had fun. We golfed the Falcon Ridge and it was awesome! The course is more complicated, but it was worth the money and we had a great time. Very nice faciltiy.
We went in January and the weather was warm, in the 50's (which is warm for Utahn's in January).

I have stayed at every hotel/motel in Mesquite, Nevada and in my opinion the Casablanca is the best. We try to go there at least twice a year, especially in the summer. Their pool is huge and so much fun. They have a slide for the kids but it didn't stop us from using it. We also sat at the bar inside the casino for a few cocktails. Very nice staff and very affordable. I tried the spa once. It has a separate mineral pool within it. Very relaxing.

Room Tip: I always pick a room up high facing the pool.
