Spent 4 days here, 1st time here. Had obtained a great deal with southwest vacations. Check in was a real experience, not something you would expect from a 5* resort. We arrived at 10 am, no line up and the only room available was on the north side, 6th floor. We wanted a higher room and we were told would be contacted in 2-3 hours, which was fine since we went to get a bite to eat at the Venetian. We returned in 3 hours, since we never received a call informing us a room was ready. There was a huge line up. We spoke to an employee who was guiding everyone, we told him we already had checked in and just needed a room. He has us go in line, we were fortunate in that we spoke to another person who was directing people and she directed us to the end of the check in counter, reserved for the high rollers- thank you. We came prepared with knowledge having read previous reviews about the noise problem with the pool facing rooms. They did not hide the fact that it is very noisy on the south pool side and unless you upgrade to the top floors you will experience noise. We were told that the noise issue is also dependent on the weather & who the dj is. We wanted a good sleep and obtained a north facing room on the 22nd floor. This was a great decision since we met a fellow canadian the next day who was on the 26th floor on the pool side and was up all night because of the music. One would wonder why a luxury resort l would be designed to inconvenience guests.
The room is spectacular. Wide hallway, the bathroom is huge with all the amenities. The bed is very comfortable, controls for lights and curtains next to bed and easy to use, sitting area is also large with L shaped couched. The room was spotless when we arrived. Cleaning staff are excellent and very friendly.
The casino I would describe as very calm, and for those concerned about smoke like i am, this is as close as you get to a smoke free casino.
My biggest criticism is the price of food and drinks in the casino. Do you really have to pay that much because of where you are staying? I could understand if the next closest casino or restaurant was miles away. One can just get off the resort and have tons of other options. The $15 strawberry daquiri though was good.
The pools are great but good luck finding a chair in the afternoon. The gym is great, has lots of ellipticals and treadmills, which appear to be newer. Lots of towels, water and headsets.
the location of the resort is a concern if you have any issues about walking. It a long walk to the center strip and even longer anywhere south. You will be cabbing anywhere off the strip.
the check out process was quick. Would I return? If i was planning to spend my vacation on the resort, maybe, but if looking at going to other casinos would consider something closer to centre of strip, even if it meant having a less luxurious room.
