“Be Very Careful”
Reviewed 5 July 2012

We (my wife and I) recently stayed at the Luxor for the third time but we won't be staying there again. One evening, we placed the "Do Not Disturb" on our room door and went out for the night. On our return, in the early hours, we found our room had been entered, the shower cubicle was filthy (it was clean when we left), with a large pile of equally filthy towels left on our bathroom floor. Needless to say we were angry/disgusted. After an inordinate length of time trying to locate the duty manager, we were eventually told differing stories about why this had happened, none of which rang true. We were never given an apology or an explanation. We were offered an upgrade which we declined.

In general the Luxor is nothing more than a large, novelty motel. The mandatory (and universally loathed) resort fee is nothing short of daylight robbery. For "your convenience" the hotel adds $20-odd (after tax) each day to your room cost. This covers a newspaper (if you go and collect it yourself from a shop), gym and pool use (free in most Vegas hotels) and Internet access. You should note that the Internet access is only for wired devices and iPhones/IPads etc won't work as there is no wireless in the hotel. Your cheap room that you found online may not turn out to be such a bargain after all.

If you enjoy your pools noisy, packed and with a surplus of poorly maintained pool loungers then you're in luck. Two of the pools were also inexplicably cordoned off. You could, alternatively, pay an additional amount (on top of your resort fee) to use the nice, quiet pool (although it appeared as though few guests bothered to do so).

In short, with such a plethora of excellent hotels in Vegas, there's very little reason to stay here at all.

Picked the Luxor for a few days simply because I was curious about staying in the pyramid. Mistake. Old, needs a makeover. Atmosphere not up to the standard of other hotels on the strip. They say you get what you pay for, but even with the cheap rates you can do better.
The elevator system is... weird. They move diagnally and after the initial sensation, you either get use to it or it makes you dizzy (wife..). Room was hot and A/C could not keep up to keep the room cool.

We will not be going back.

Our single bed room was spacious and clean. Be sûre to be in the non-smoking section if dont like it because there's lots of smoke un the casino. This hotel is not in the center of the strip but you can buy à three days bus ticket for only 20$. Our favorite hôtel and casino for the look and the restaurants is the New York New York.

Very simple... this place is run down and needs updating. Worse thing is the rooms are dirty! The floor in the bathroom was very dirty which makes you wonder what else isn't clean. Made for an uncomfortable experience.

This is a very low end hotel, you will find a lot people with children here even in the Casino.
