We stayed two nights at the castle and were really pleased with the welcome, the accommodation and the kindness of the hosts. The castle no longer produces wine but was once owned by Adolf Wagner who developed Sekt and has quite an interesting history including being bombed during WWII. The castle is now a family home and has been modernised inside which is a shame in that the rooms are decorated in a contemporary style. However it's a beautiful part of Germany and the countryside is lovely and it's close to lots of pretty towns including Trier, famous for its Roman architecture. The welcome was very warm and the hosts couldn't do enough for us including giving us a tour, providing wine and fruit on the terrace and generally being very accommodating. I'd definitely recommend it as a good place to explore the beautiful Mosel valley.
