This place have all the right stuff. Good location bordering the sandy beach with the white boats in the little harbor. Good reasonably priced food (it’s a fish tavern, so most things on the menu is a little more expensive). Friendly waiters (almost all).
Good food! Not all perfect, but a 4 out of 5.
Definitely a good place for a good lunch on the beach.

Patrelantonis was highly recommended by many locals and thank God we visited in on the very second day of our trip. There are not enough good things to say about this place, it is right on the beach, and therefore the ideal place to spend an entire day and have ouzo or coffee or meal breaks between sessions of sun-bathing or swimming in the turquoise waters right on its doorstep. This is not your touristy place either, with endless menus and impersonal service. Rather, this is a restaurant that does everything on offer well, it is mid-ranged in its prices, run by a hospitable and polite family (the barista will remember how you take your coffee after 3 visits) and, very importantly, it is clean, comfortable, pleasant.

Very good fish with a wonderful view, direclty on the sea. Cheap prices and top quality. Don't miss a lunch/dinner if you're in Chania.

We 'discovered' this Taverna simply being at Marathi Beach; it sits just behind the sand overlooking Marathia Beach, Lefka Ori and the Gulf of Souda. It is a commanding location. But, views and convenient location aside, this Taverna doles out fabulous food and incomparable service in doses unknown in the area!

The staff is positively one of the best we have ever experienced. There were Lefteris, Demos and an outstanding cast of others whose names I cannot recall. However, the overall team approach to dining works very well here.

The food is positively unmatched, in my opinion, by anything in the area. Super fresh, prepared quickly and presented beautifully. We ate here for lunch quite often while in Chania and we found something wonderful at every meal. We were brought into the kitchen (which was super-spotlessly clean!) to see the fresh fish, refrigerated in gleaming stainless steel drawers. The food, the FOOD! It is positively dreamy because it has every wonderful attribute we dream about whenever we think of fine Greek food.

We had their Horiatiki (Greek salad) just about every day. It was phenomenal — where do they get those tomatoes? Everything is made to order (and we gained some serious weight eating their fantastic food!). We had the fava beans, smelts, fresh whole fish, moussaka, pastitsio, meatballs, fried potatoes, grilled vegetables (with eggplant and peppers), lamb chops, bolognese, horta, grilled octopus, octopus salad (with avocado, amazing!), fried stuffed squash flowers ... we ate and ate, day after day and loved each meal and remember well, too, the fellowship and hospitality from this amazing staff!

And COLD beer, freezing cold. We had many of their Mythos, Alpha and other beers, each was a generous pour and icy cold. Thank you DEMOS!

Still, even when the Taverna was completely filled to the max, every server and host was friendly, patient and engaging. We had such a great time at every meal with the staff and Demos at the bar (he was really so engaging and friendly).

We just sat idly as these expert wait staff and cooks did their magic day after day. Each new entree or appetizer was better than the last so much that we continually were trying new dishes.

The setting is simply perfection. The view from the tables is serene and relaxing so that, even before you start to drink your beer or wine, you are already lulled into a deep state of relaxation and contentment.

Most of all, Lefteris was truly wonderful — a gentleman, charming and incredibly friendly. We spent what time we could (the Taverna was always quite busy, even in September!) speaking with him and he always found time to show us the fresh fish (at a great price, too), tell us about each dish in detail and also about life in Crete. Demos, too, was a very competent fellow and he was also very enjoyable and poured a great beer, I'll tell you!

So it is about three weeks since we are home from Crete and, even after this long, we daydream about those days at Patrelantonis Fish Taverna — the great people there, the FOOD, the view and feeling of contentment we had every time we were there! Nothing in the area even came close to the quality, flavor, service, price and hospitality! We cannot wait to return in 2018!
