If you are a skier, the amenities here are perfect. You are literally steps away from Chair 3 at Whitefish. There is a ski locker on the second floor with venting to dry out your boots. There is a hot tub (for the building). The rooms are condos with an add-on bedroom, so if the letter "L" appears beside it, it is what they call a "lock-out" room. The "L" rooms are more like a hotel than a condo. We stayed in 206L and it has a king bed, a balcony with 2 chairs, a small fridge, microwave, coffee pot, a dresser, and a bathroom with a bathtub.

When I was checking reviews before we booked, I had read reviews about the noise of the village or the noise of the groomers, but not which units had which noise. All the even-numbered units face the hill and the odd-numbered units face the village. The noise of the groomers is noticeable if you're awake, but not once in the week we were here did it wake us up.

If we were to book here again, I would probably spend the extra money for a condo rather than the room we had. It is kind of small for an entire week, but would be perfect for a long weekend. There isn't a table to eat on and we prefer breakfast in our room (faster to get on the mountain earlier). We were able to make both omelettes and scrambled eggs in the microwave and we brought a toaster with us. The staff were friendly and accommodating and available 24 hours a day in ski season. We were here for the last week of the season and found great snow too. It's such a great place to ski!

Our only concern was no matter what we set the temperature to in the room, it stayed at 71 degrees. This was a little warm for us at night but fine during the day.

Room Tip: Even-numbered rooms face the mountain, odd-numbered rooms face the village.

This room/condo is really amazing. Such beautiful scenery, great location, wonderful condo. The Village store down below is open 24 hours, so convenient! The kitchen was fully and thoughtfully stocked with tons of dishes, bowls, etc. so we could cook and have friends in. Nice furniture and the in-floor heat was such a luxury especially in the mornings! Also, it was really awesome that our room had our own router for internet so it was super fast, which is something we don't normally get when we go on vacation, and other families traveling with us staying at other resorts nearby didn't have the same treatment and were getting frustrated. Wonderful fireplaces to warm after a day of skiing. Super friendly staff when we checked in and great communication for anything we needed. We stayed in room 404, and as others have mentioned, you do hear the groomers and their lights flash into the master bedroom room hourly starting at 3:00 am. However......the kids in the other rooms didn't hear it and it is totally worth it to be right at the centre of the action....exactly why we booked a room on the hill! It was so awesome - we stayed in our room and watched the kids night ski off of chair 3! The only odd thing was that both bathrooms are part of the bedrooms, so our son who slept in the room with bunk beds had to go into our master bedroom or his sister's bedroom to use the washroom. We made it work. Also, the pillows and mattresses weren't quite 5-star, but overall this is an amazing property that I would highly recommend to any friends.

Room Tip: Room 404 is on the hill right beside chair 3, which also has night skiing. Noisy at night but so worth it!

Third vacation is a repeat for a good reason. Why? If you are a serious skier, then this place is for you. The Lodge offers ski-in and ski-out. Big Mountain is one of the best kept secrets in Montana. The snow is awesome with over a hundred trails; increasing odds of skiing alone on powder.
Nordic skiing options are also within 30 miles. Rent a car. The roads are well kept. Glacier National Park and Izaak Walton Inn ski areas offer superb Vistas.

Whitefish town is at bottom of mountain. Local buses go back and forth. Free of charge. Local dining is somewhat pricey, but worth a try. The Kintla Lodge offers kitchen options, if one wants to cook own food. The price difference becomes a wash.
The ski rental place on the mountain offers a 50% military discount. In fact, most local businesses offer military discounts with the exception of the Toggery. This writer served thirty years and thus values American businesses that act with respect.
Staying at Kintla Lodge is not an option for someone who is concerned about perfect accommodations. Kintla Lodge is a viable option, if at the end of the day all one needs is a warm bed and hot shower.
We will keep returning because the point of our vacation is communing with nature, not the television or game console.
Kudos to Amanda and Austin for again making us feel welcome.

We stayed in Unit 203 (2 bedroom). Recently updated with all new flat screen TVs, DVD players, new shutters and bedding. The lockout has a refrig, microwave, crockpot, coffee maker, dishes, and bar sink. PERFECT if you are looking for more than just a hotel room. In a previous stay we stayed in the Lockout and was able to make our meals in the crockpot. The main living area is VERY spacious with great cooking utensils, pots and pans, etc. The valley view is beautiful and much more quiet than the mountain side, especially when they are running the groomers at night. The place is very clean and the radiant heated floors are GREAT!! The unit is right across the haul from the ski locker and the door that takes you to Chair # 3.

Room Tip: Unit # 203 has up to date TVs, DVDs, and a great cook's kitchen!!

We stayed in what they call a lock out room (L). Don't recommend these. The room was extremely small, no where to move or put anything (luggage). There was a queen size bed that was so high off the floor that had it not been for the rails, you would have to get a running start to jump in the bed (but the lack of space, there was no room to do that). The night stand on the right side of the bed was almost in the closet, the end table on the left side was butted up against the bed and the wall. There was a chair in the corner, that you had to move if you wanted to go out on the balcony. Our view was a ski lift (out of order) you would hear the maintenance men working on it so if you wanted to sleep in you couldn't. We attempted to lay down and watch some TV, the bed was so high, unless you prop yourself up you could only see the top half of the screen. The room came equipped with a small frig, and dishes but no microwave. The room had a portable air conditioner which obstructed the path of the left side of the bed. Even with the 15% discount we got because we were there for a wedding, it was not worth the money spent.

Room Tip: Spend the few extra dollars and get a room with the L
