Third vacation is a repeat for a good reason. Why? If you are a serious skier, then this place is for you. The Lodge offers ski-in and ski-out. Big Mountain is one of the best kept secrets in Montana. The snow is awesome with over a hundred trails; increasing odds of skiing alone on powder.
Nordic skiing options are also within 30 miles. Rent a car. The roads are well kept. Glacier National Park and Izaak Walton Inn ski areas offer superb Vistas.

Whitefish town is at bottom of mountain. Local buses go back and forth. Free of charge. Local dining is somewhat pricey, but worth a try. The Kintla Lodge offers kitchen options, if one wants to cook own food. The price difference becomes a wash.
The ski rental place on the mountain offers a 50% military discount. In fact, most local businesses offer military discounts with the exception of the Toggery. This writer served thirty years and thus values American businesses that act with respect.
Staying at Kintla Lodge is not an option for someone who is concerned about perfect accommodations. Kintla Lodge is a viable option, if at the end of the day all one needs is a warm bed and hot shower.
We will keep returning because the point of our vacation is communing with nature, not the television or game console.
Kudos to Amanda and Austin for again making us feel welcome.

We stayed in Unit 203 (2 bedroom). Recently updated with all new flat screen TVs, DVD players, new shutters and bedding. The lockout has a refrig, microwave, crockpot, coffee maker, dishes, and bar sink. PERFECT if you are looking for more than just a hotel room. In a previous stay we stayed in the Lockout and was able to make our meals in the crockpot. The main living area is VERY spacious with great cooking utensils, pots and pans, etc. The valley view is beautiful and much more quiet than the mountain side, especially when they are running the groomers at night. The place is very clean and the radiant heated floors are GREAT!! The unit is right across the haul from the ski locker and the door that takes you to Chair # 3.

Room Tip: Unit # 203 has up to date TVs, DVDs, and a great cook's kitchen!!

We stayed in what they call a lock out room (L). Don't recommend these. The room was extremely small, no where to move or put anything (luggage). There was a queen size bed that was so high off the floor that had it not been for the rails, you would have to get a running start to jump in the bed (but the lack of space, there was no room to do that). The night stand on the right side of the bed was almost in the closet, the end table on the left side was butted up against the bed and the wall. There was a chair in the corner, that you had to move if you wanted to go out on the balcony. Our view was a ski lift (out of order) you would hear the maintenance men working on it so if you wanted to sleep in you couldn't. We attempted to lay down and watch some TV, the bed was so high, unless you prop yourself up you could only see the top half of the screen. The room came equipped with a small frig, and dishes but no microwave. The room had a portable air conditioner which obstructed the path of the left side of the bed. Even with the 15% discount we got because we were there for a wedding, it was not worth the money spent.

Room Tip: Spend the few extra dollars and get a room with the L

this is a very nice hotel , but not ostentatious... love the walk to the lifts , nice clean rooms with in floor radiant heat , reclaimed wood furniture, helpful courteous staff, bars and restaurants close and within walking distance, rockin' mountain, LOVE the sound of the groomers working at night and dreaming of an awesome ski day to come, if the groomers keep You awake -it means you did not ski hard enough that day.... they ( the pisten bully's) never bothered my sleep. ski lockers, hot tub, nice on mountain mini store with ,beer, ice cream, coffee, frozen breakfast burritos and other things a person might need without going into town... I will be back to this place

Room Tip: if the noise of the groomers might bother your fickle sleep , get a room not facing the mountain

We had never stayed in a ski-in/ski-out condo this close to the actual ski slope on the slope/ mountain side of the building. Now we know. Next time we'll go for the valley side.

We were in Unit 404.

The only drawback was that both bathrooms are inside bedrooms. That was not a problem until we had family in both the bunk nook and the second bedroom.

The hot tub was not as pleasant as the one in the Morning Eagle next door.

Room Tip: Valley side is quieter than slope side-grooming machines at night.
