“Nice museum!”

Small, but very nice, loads of info/history on the park. Good short movie/video available that was worth watching. Restrooms clean and spacious.

“Good place to spend a couple hours.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 September 2011

This museum is located in the old Union Pacific depot. And while they describe the UP's role in establishing the town and what railroads have done for the park, they totally miss out on th history of the other railroads impact on the region. The biggest exhibit though was on air transportation into the town.

“Nice Museum, Don't Miss the Fires Video”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 August 2010

Learning history about the places you visit can always be interesting and Museum of the Yellowstone does a nice job doing so. Yes, it is standard for a museum, but you do get a better understanding on how West Yellowstone came to be and its place in Yellowstone's existence. I took the time to watch the Yellowstone Fire video. Very fascinating. It goes from the very beginning to the full blown event. It really gives you a now and then experience when you go into the park and see how much has come back in the last 22 years. It's a must see. If you don't plan on visiting Eathquake Lake, at least go into that room and learn about it. That has quite a story too.

“Ok for a rainy day,we enjoyed the movie on the 1988 fire but kids were bored.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 June 2010

This would be an excellent museum for older folks that perhaps had visited Yellowstone when they were younger. The museum if full of Yellowstone memorabilia from restaurants and lodges. There are a few references to trains. All in all, most of my family were bored(ages 5-43). The movie on the 1988 fire was intriguing and full of information but that being said the highlight of the museum was a very large stuffed grizzly named Snaggletooth.
