I booked one night at this hotel because the lady at the Vista Motel in West Glacier could only accomodate us for 2 of our 3 nights, and she recommended the Middle Fork as a clean and decent place.
Wow. It's not.
We got to the motel around 7 pm. I went to the office to check in and was greeted by the owner lady with "hello?" and "name?" and "Oh, I could have rented that room out half a dozen times this evening!" She then proceeded to lead me to the room across a common area with my husband left to drive slowly along to see where we were going. It was weird. She showed us the room, which featured her husband's shirt hanging over a chair ("Whoops!" That's a good Cabela's shirt! He'd hate to lose that. <grab>"). Then she went to leave and I asked for a key. She said I needed to come back to the office with her to get that. This lady was a serious kook. When I went back to the office to get the key, I noticed a couple of rude political signs hung on the walls. Real smart to risk offending your customers like that with no discernable benefit to your business.
Back at the room, I couldn't believe what a dump it was. There were bugs, spiders, and their webs in the entryway and around the door. The interior was NOT clean, and I did not need a white glove to see that. The tub had peeling grippy stickers on the bottom of it. The floor had dirt on it. The mirror had water spots or hairspray or whatever on it. There was another door in the room (closet?) that I was too afraid to open and investigate. The furnishings were old and had the look of long disregard. The whole property looked neglected, in fact. And for the pleasure of staying there, we payed $90 plus tax.
It was horrible. I felt so uncomfortable in that dingy, dirty motel place that we got up and left by 7:00 am. I would not stay here again if they paid me $90.
