GREAT CABIN! Be certain about location

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 15 Sept 2016via mobile
Very nice and very clean comfortable cabin! I slept great with ear plugs. Trains are so fun to watch but if you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. Dinner was good, Todd the owner was very hospitable! We felt very welcome. We got mixed up and thought this Lodge was on the Road to the Sun but it isn't, it's about 1.5 hours away from the center of RTTS. Glad it was as it was a beautiful drive! Continental breakfast was great with fantastic view! Have a great trip!

We are conveniently located right in the middle of East Glacier and West Glacier Park so our guests get a little reprieve from the chaos of the park and traffic. We are glad you were able to enjoy dinner and continental breakfast with us. See you in the future

Spent 4 nights in Rising Wolf Cabin and while the beds were nice and firm. The sheets were never changed or beds made up, the trash was never emptied and the toilet ran non-stop. We told the owner and they apparently tried to fix the toilet but it only made it worse. Nothing about the stay was peaceful. We won't go there again. To have to ask for trash to be emptied is ridiculous. We have gone to GNP for 22 years and the park facilities are far superior. The restaurant was very good however.

Room tip: Quiet but very remote. We prefer E. Glacier lodging or Essex!!

Thank you for your review,
We apologize that you didn't have a great stay at SML. We do follow eco-friendly practices and make sure that all of our guests read the eco-friendly policies before we allow them to book with us. We do make sure that trash cans are emptied at the same time we change towels and linens. We do understand that in rare cases(you as an example) will have a significant amount of trash and point out where the main garbage dumpster is located so it wont be an inconvenience.
We are different than a hotel, they may make your bed for you on a daily basis but will charge more for that service. We are able to keep are lodging prices down for our guests because we are environmentally conscious and do practice being eco-friendly. We are approx. $60-$100 cheaper a night than most park facilities(depending on where you stay in the park).
We sincerely apologize about your toilet keeping you up for 4 nights, next time if you could let the manager know immediately it could be fixed. If you should ever have this problem again in the future( perhaps a different hotel) look on the side of the toilet and turn the little knob so the water will stop running and you may get a good nights sleep. Again we are sorry for you not being able to see the incredible views, find amazing peace around you, or enjoy the private cabin because of your toilet. Thank you for enjoying our food at the steakhouse.

Had dinner tonight at the restaurant with a group of 25 women and the service and food was outstanding. The pork tenderloin with a huckleberry glaze was wonderful. Also amazing view of mountains and pond.

We had inadvertently booked the wrong month. Our cabin was taken in the height of tourist season. The owners graciously let us have a family size cabin - so cute with kitchen, fireplace, and loft. The dining experience on the deck with THE VIEW plus a delicious meal made our stay so memorable. This lodging should not be missed.

From the moment we arrived till we left, we felt like family. Ted, Annie and others were so welcoming. Our cabin was rustic but nicely appointed. Beautiful setting. Dinner in the steakhouse was yummy. Would definitely stay again if ever blessed to return to that beautiful part of the world.

Room tip: All cabins are semi-private...very nice.

A very nice off the beaten track place to stay, outside of Glacier National Park. Easy driving distance from East Glacier Village and the eastern entrance to the park.

Nicely done cabins, with reasonably comfortable beds and a good hot shower.

Careful about using the provided bar fridge. No temperature adjustment, so all of my stuff was frozen stiff! not great for cheese, meat and apples! The fridge was also noisy so my hope of a dead-quiet sleep in the middle of the mountains was a little spoiled. The main building itself was good for dinner and drinks on the deck. The host, Ted Crane, was very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was good but a little pricey. Beer was cold and reasonably priced.

The property was in the trees and had a beaver dam, beaver lodges and game trails. Saw a beaver and a couple of deer but no moose.

All in all, a pleasant experience.

Thank you for all the nice things you said about our property. Im glad you had a great experience here at SML! Unfortunately, if you could have let us know about the fridge we would have replaced it within minutes had we known.
We unfortunately still don't know which fridge it is because we don't know which cabin you stayed in while you were here. We appreciate the kind words and reviews people leave but not sure why people just cant tell the property manager or owners about the problems that need to be fixed before they tell the whole world.
We are happy you had such a great stay but still received an average rating because of a refrigerator that could actually ruin your entire stay. We have replacement fridges as most properties will if they know about the problems. You may just want to unplug the fridge until it can be replaced if its keeping you from sleeping or ask us for a cooler with ice. Either way we would be happy to help you get a good night sleep, we just need to know about the issue to fix them. Please let us know next time Thanks again
