“Elegant and Breathtaking”

Museum Hill Historic District

Take time to walk the area and see the old "ladies" close-up. What amazing architecture. We were not able to tour any of the houses, but will make another trip on their "open" days.

Very unique area - walk around the blocks and gaze at some of the places! These places range from perfect to falling down! There are some of the most unique structures you will ever see. Most were built in the 1800s. If you are really interested in unique architecture go to the homes tour in September or their October celebrations - some of the houses are open to the public.

There are an incredible number of beautiful Victorian homes in this area. Clearly, some have been painstakingly restored (at least on the outside). Others are in a state of significant decline. I cannot imagine the amount of time, money, and effort required to keep one of these beauties alive. Hopefully, the city or state or feds can assist with resources to keep these gems part of our future. There is a booklet "Around the Wyeth-Tootle Mansion" that describes a number of homes.

This section of town is full of old Victorian homes however most of them are very run down or have been repurposed into multi-family homes. Right in the center is the Wyeth-Tootle Mansion. Worth a quick drive through.

This is a beautiful area filled with stunning, preserved Victorians. The area is blanketed with history and a a reverence for the past.
