The nature center is interesting and educational and the hiking trails are peaceful (though can be a little tricky - definitely not for strollers or wheelchairs on the trails.) We first went on a field trip for one of our kids, and have been back several times as a family.

Nature center building is wheelchair accessible.

Good place to see animals native to Missouri, some that have been rescued. Activities for kids. It's located in Swope Park and near the KC Zoo.

I used to visit the Lakeside Nature Center as a child and the new center is great. It's got lots of animals native to the area in educational displays, but my favorite part is the walking trails behind the center. And it's in Swope Park which has other activities and picnic areas to make for a full day.

Nice nature center with exhibits on nature as well as live animals that have been rescued from bad situations--includes hawks, snakes, turtles, rabbits, and smaller creatures. Some nice exhibits and friendly staff. Activities for children. Outdoor as well as indoor activities. In beautiful Swope Park, so nice place to visit for an hour or two when you are picknicking in the park.
