I've gone about 4 times in the last 2 years and love every special event. I plan to eat lunch because the dishes are great. A very pleasant experience. I've traveled in Europe and it really feels European.

This museum is great & was our first visit. We visited there, two couples, and spent about 6 hours. We didn’t even see it all so we’ll be returning. The stuff they have is amazing!! They have a nice place for lunch, too.

I was born an raised around Kansas City, and this was where I learned about art. I would call this a "Generalist" museum -- a museum that decent collections in many areas and eras. With the expansions over the years (and their sprawling sculpture gardens), they've managed to flesh out, and display, more of their collection. My personal favorites are the Thomas Hart Benton pieces. It reminds me to go back the the Truman Library, where there is a huge mural, the next time I'm back in Kansas City. Great Egypt section, good Modern Art section, they really do have a day's worth of things to see, and the cafe is good, as well.

If you love modern art then spend most of your time in the Bloch Building.
If you like more traditional art then the Plaza level is the place to be.
Do not miss the Gates of Paradise at the top of the ramp.

This is a wonderful art museum with a range of collections to satisfy most art lovers. The museum consists of the original 1930's classical Beaux-Arts building and the 2007 modern Bloch Building addition. During our visit we had the opportunity to see two special exhibitions one of Picasso and the other of artifacts from a Chinese Han Emperor burial site. The Picasso exhibit is only being shown in the U.S. at this museum. A cafeteria style lunch is available in the Beaux Arts building in the beautiful 15th Century Italian style Rozzelle Court.
