We chose Belle de Nuit carefully, after reading all the good reviews on Tripadvisor, and we were defintiely not disappointed! The hosts, Roger and Louise were so friendly, which really made our stay more personal and enjoyable. My husband cannot eat gluten, and Louise adjusted all of the breakfasts when she happened to find this out, and even took the trouble to cook him hand-made gluten free pancakes the one morning which was a lovely touch. Our room was spacious and clean, and had a superking sized firm bed, so we were very comfortable. The building is 400 years old, so it is rustic - but in a charming way as opposed to a bad way. This place has a lot of character and I would highly recommend it for anyone looking to explore Provence. We felt at home, and have come back from the holiday nice and refreshed.

We looked at accommodations in several "perched" villages and finally settled on Belle de Nuit in Oppede le Vieux, not knowing quite what to expect. First, it is okay to drive into the village for those having a reservation. Belle de Nuit is centrally located just below the "square." Bags can be dropped off and then the car parked in the central parking lot just steps away. The exterior of the B&B is old world charming; the interior has been renovated with good taste, simple and comfortable rooms. The furniture was excellent, such as a good sofa for reading. Windows look out onto cobble-stone street where you may see in the morning horse riders, bicyclists, walkers. But mostly quiet. This village is an undiscovered jewel set in dramatic scenery. The breakfasts are quite good, but the dinners at their table d'hotes are stunning. The best meals we've had during our stay in France. Even better, the personalities of the hosts are fabulous: funny, intelligent, witty. Lots of good advice for touring the area. This is a great point from which to investigate other hill towns. It's a quiet village so not a lot of night life! But that's exactly what we like. (Laurie is Canadian and Roger French so a terrific combination for Anglos.) We felt this was a stunning property and glad we took a chance on one of the lesser known hill towns of the Luberon.

Laurie and Roger made us so welcome and staying here enables you to experience the real Luberon

The village of Opede is a fairytale location if you are looking for something quiet and out of the way

Stunning scenery and superb Hospitality

The restaurant is amazing and a really charming and romantic setting

Everytime I am in France I fall in love with it even more.... and places like Belle de Nuit are the reasons why. Set in beautiful village full of history at the top of a hill (Which I unfortunately had to cycle up) it was perfect. Lauries food was delicious and Roger's service was personal and welcoming and they were both always willing to help.. a true gem and I CANNOT wait to go back.

We visited Oppede for a weekend break with friends. Although staying at their property, we visited Vieux Oppede to drink in the fabulous views and wander around the medieval ruins. In the evening we returned for a meal at Belle de Nuit. The restaurant is quirky with a well and a huge bread oven. The owners are friendly (both speak English) and hospitable. There was a simple 3 course set menu all of which was terrific - lentil & tomato soup with parmesan, duck with parsnip mash, squash and green beans and a panacotta & red berry dessert (or cheese plate). If you find yourself in Oppede or the surrounding area we urge you to eat here.
