Moustiers-Sainte-Marie is just 10-15 minutes walk up the steep hill from Le Clos des Iris, and restaurants, bars, supermarket, shops, etc. are all within reach. We spent some time around the reservoir lake of Ste Croix du Verdon, which takes about 15 minutes in the car. Here, we hired boats for the afternoon to venture up the gorge and take it easy on the water. Plenty of fun here!
Le Clos des Iris is set in a shady spot which catches the sprinkling of sun spots around the guest 'chalets'. On first impression the interior seemed pleasant enough with it's floral fabrics and cosy feel, albeit a bit small for two people, but this was quickly overshadowed by the most disconcerting attribute which was the lack of any air-conditioning and air circulation - everything in our bathroom was damp and clammy, creating a warm dankness throughout the hut. We had to use the insect plug-in here too, but without air movement this just made the room suffocating. We did not sleep well at Le Clos des Iris. We could also hear our neighbours using their bathroom, which did not bother us too much but it's not so easily ignored! Out of our 3-week tour in the south of France this was the only stay with such problems, and one of the most expensive.
