The Garth Mansion, the cottages, and the surrounding nature are beautiful! We stayed in the Dowager House and felt completely pampered. The mansion is amazing with the beautiful antiques, the architectural detail, and the eye catching staircase!
The owners were very welcoming and spent time answering our questions about the history of the mansion. We had no idea how much the mansion was connected to the history of Mark Twain!
We plan on returning in the future and if it were up to me, we would spend time in each one of the rooms in the mansion. I think they each have their own story to tell!

You'll feel pampered and loved in this quaint peaceful place. The morning breakfast was absolutely delicious. John and Julie are very gracious and friendly hosts. We made a last minute decision to stay here and it was the best part of our trip. The Victorian home is literally from another century yet is comfortable as can be. The front porch, rocking chairs, garden, llamas, and more are perfect. We'd love to go back. May try a winter weekend away. It's just beautiful. Try it and you will love it! Thanks John and Julie!

Room Tip: A/C on the third floor was wonderful even during a very warm summer June day.

This place may just be the best kept secret within driving distance. My husband was asked by a city-dwelling friend to find a peaceful quiet place of rest and relaxation in the middle of nowhere. My husband called friends he knew in Hannibal and they recommended Garth Mansion. The city-dweller liked it so much, we had to check it out. We did this last weekend and we also LOVED it. We have visited Hannibal many times, but had never heard of this place.

Room Tip: any room is a good room! I looked at all of them (if the door was open)

We have now been to Garth on several occasions. When trying to decide where to get away for our anniversary, it was a no-brainer. Being at Garth is like going home to family. Julie and John are fantastic hosts, the food is great, and it's the most relaxing place we've ever been. It's always hard to leave. We've never been disappointed and will definitely be back!
