Description: The Mark Twain Dinette has been a Hannibal tradition and must-stop destination since 1942. We are known for our Maid-Rites, homemade frosty mugs of root beer, famous breaded onion rings, and tenderloins. There was a transfer of ownership as of April 1st, 2015.

Finding good Maid Rites (loose meat hamburgers) somewhere other than Iowa is a joy! Their MR's were as good as expected. My wife had the Half Order tenderloin, which came with fries, so we shared her fries. Half a tenderloin was plenty; crisp not excessive breading, no gristle in meat= good! Milk, coffee all for only $14. What a deal! Older building right downtown in touristy area, plenty of free parking.Worth a stop.

We visited Hannibal on a weekday, so after our ghost tour, many restaurants were already closed. We ended up here and had an enjoyable meal. Prices were low, service was good (we were the only table there), and the homemade root beer was amazing. We even took some home with us!

Try the bottomless root beers and Smores hot chocolate. They also provide the kiddos with scavenger hunt maps for the city! A+

Came into town for business, and stopped in for lunch. The place was pretty empty, and I was greeted and seated immediately. The server gave me plenty of time to check out the menu before she came to take my order. The good was out in a timely manner.

The place was quaint and I enjoyed the small town feel. It’s basically an old-time dinette with oldies playing overhead.

The food was good, if a bit greasy, but that’s what you expect from this kind of place.

Overall, it was a good experience, and I would dine here again.
