The Jasper County Courthouse is well worth the stop in Carthage. Not only were we impressed with the building but you can go inside and see many historical pieces and displays on the first floor of the courthouse.

Absolutely love our courthouse. IT'S GORGEOUS, like something straight out of a fairytale. Granted it has several years on it, and the smell of old wax permeates the air, but it is so beautiful and filled with so much history! We live west of town, and the courthouse, with a full moon in the sky, makes for a beautiful photo.

It is a beautiful, historic building in a part of the world too few people visit. I strongly recommend taking a walk through the many displays that celebrate and remember the role this area played in the nation's Civil War and westward expansion.

What a interesting building in a small town, very cool architecture and impressive size. Not something I would have expected.

The Carthage square has seen it's boom and bust days, as most small town county centers have. The courthouse is a beautiful example of period architecture in local stone, with many interior touches still intact. It's still a working center, but worth visiting.

Love walking the square to shop, have coffee and see the courthouse! Good time to come is in Oct for Maple Leaf festival. Band competition, parade, arts and crafts festival, etc. a whole month of events!

Beautiful building wonderfully illuminated at night. Star on the top is visible from Route 66 traveling either east or west.

Though the trip here can be just for a payment of taxes, the Jasper County Courthiuse is such a beautiful historic building that there is always some delight to see the design and structure.

This was a bit out of the way- but a fun stop! The architecture is just beautiful!

The first floor is a free museum. Take a ride in the cage elevator, an employee runs the buttons. See the Route 66 display, War memorabilia, Rocks & gems from the mining district, plus 2 murals.

The "Forged in Fire" mural has a button to push to hear a long and detail narration of the local history depicted on the mural.

Definitely worth a stop!

Carthage, Missouri, is home to a quarry from which has come the marble for many monuments and governmental facilities around the nation. The Jasper County courthouse is one of the finest showcases of its majesty. Beautiful stone and classical architecture blend into a remarkable edifice. Worth checking out.
