Let's get the positives done first. Islip is a nice place for a walk along the Nene. The Woolpack has a car park right by the river. The pub is clean. It has toilets.

That's the good news.

Sadly it ends there. The beer is unimpressive. The wine run of the mill. The food is, being charitable, average. Bland rubbery meat. Over cooked vegetables. Fish deep fried in oil that should have been changed about a decade ago. School canteen chips.

The service is friendly enough, but the staff try to serve spirit sized 25ml measures of sherry, which should be law be served in a 50ml measure. To add insult to injury the sherry is then put in a choice of large brandy balloon glass or whisky tumbler. Then when you try to explain to the barmaid that she will need to put two 25ml measures in the glass to make the legal 50ml serving she gets utterly confused and charges you double the amount you should pay. I gave up in the end and just paid the doubled price rather than get involved in further unseemly discussion.

Take my advice, find somewhere else to park in Islip, enjoy your walk, and then drive to another pub where they have nice food, good beer and at least a basic understanding of weights and measures.

Family meal booked and despite a nice location and nicely refurbished interior, we once again found drinks to be quite expensive - and more disappointingly the food was nothing special despite being fairly highly priced. Lamb was OK but not much of it, and the creamed mash and vegetables accompanying it were both barely luke warm. Dessert also very average and this was after giving it another try after being disappointed with our meal last time here. Won't be giving it a third try.....

Average. Chalet rooms had good en suite facilities with bath and good hot water. No easy chair to sit on and room looked a bit tired. Disappointed with the breakfast area and also the presentation and had to ask for butter and marmalade.

Room Tip: Good views of fields and sheep.

Went here on on the 22/10/16
Wasn't overly impressed
Soup was nice
Steak not so nice chips still aldente and could of done with a side salad or some roast tomatoes.
Staff amazing and very helpful
I would class it as good Bar Food rather than the Gastropub it appears to be.
Overall Disappointed and felt a bit let down.
I'm Guessing we just caught on a bad Night..

Stayed here just the one night in one of the chalet rooms out the back of the Woolpack Inn. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, no issues there, but what was really odd was that I received a phone call the evening I was due to check to ask what I wanted for breakfast. Then at around 7 am in the morning I was awoken by a knock at my door to find a 'breakfast tray' there. So if you are expecting a full English Breakfast in the Inn then think again! The internet access was non-existent and the shower was just a dribble. In short the stay didn't meet my expectations and I'd not stay here again.
