Marx was one of the only restaurants in Stillwater that would take a reservation, and when you have a party of 12, you need a reservation. But we got lucky on this one. Our server, Star (yes her name was Star, and she was one), greeted us and made us feel welcome as we waited for the 2nd half of our group to park. She explained the menu, and we told her that one of us had just had surgery and could only eat liquid or soft foods. She offered to talk to the chef to see what they could create for us. She was fun, accommodating, and very knowledgeable about the menu. The chef came out to explain the special meal he made for our friend, and he went all out. Apparently he had broken his jaw years ago and understood the challenge of going weeks without solid food. He made a gourmet pureed meal that made our friend grin from ear to ear. All of the food was fantastic and we tried several items including the lobster dip, mozzarella rolls, walleye dumplings, steaks, seafood, pasta. They were busy, and the food was slow to arrive. The main course probably came 30-45 minutes after we ordered. But the appetizers and bread tided us over. And Star kept us engaged. We would highly recommend this restaurant and especially Star as your server.
