Excellent food. Many choices of appetizers, many choices of sides and salad or soup with main course. At our table there was duck, prime rib, walleye, shrimp. All were excellent. Also choices of alcoholic drinks, beer and non alcoholic. A nice list of desserts, but everyone too full. Service is superior, attentive, timely and helpful. It is hidden away but many people find it. Reservations are a good idea.

Have been there a few times....always great food and large quantities. The place is typically very busy, with somewhat cramped seating. Was 'hidden' until the new Hwy 36 bridge construction...now fully in the open!

I've seen ads Phil's for years, but never had gone. We decided to take a short road trip. Glad we did.

Phil's looks like a sort of large log cabin, old school and charming. A trip back in time. One imagines it would have been a lot like this in the 40's. Very cool.

We tried to make a reservation-but they don't take them on a Friday night. That's okay. We arrived at 6 or so, and it was crowded. A good sign. We checked in and, of course, headed to the bar and then to the outdoor deck. They grabbed us when our table came up about 1/2 hour later.

The wine list was not huge but certainly sufficient, as was the beer list. Cocktails too, if you like.

The menu was kind of old school with a Greek flavor. There was a nice selection of steaks, chicken, seafood and also Greek dishes such as gyros and lamb shank. Each dish seemed to have a little something extra to make it interesting. Gorgonzola on the Amish Chicken, for example.

The portions were quite large. Almost half of my small prime rib came home with me.

Prices are reasonable. Not cheap, but but about what you'd expect for quality dishes like this.

And the atmosphere is unique. Crowded on a weekend, but comfortable.

The staff was friendly, fast and fun. Which is probably hard to pull off on a crowded Friday night, but they did it.

So if you think a trip back in time but with modern Greek influenced, updated roadhouse fare would be good, don't miss it. Its right there hiding just off Highway 36.

I had knee replacement surgery on 4/5 and I had been in a transitional care facility until Thursday 4/13 and wanted a goo lunch. We arrived in Stillwater early for my physical therapy appointment so my wife and I decided to try Tara Hideway. We both ordered the fish and chips, awesome. The fish was fresh and not too heavily breaded, the potatoes were unique. The service was fast and good. We were very satisfied and will be bac for supper.

Everything we ordered was delicious. The service was great! There was a wait, but worth it. Small, quaint atmosphere.
