Great location and reasonably priced - right in the core - near all the restaurants and entertainment centres. Right on the LRT transit system. Parking is off-site, but very close and pricey at $17/night - same in the other places downtown. Greeting staff are friendly and helpful for tips in the area. Fitness centre is a club, but not overly busy - it has some of the best high-end equipment I have ever seen. No restaurant on site, but there are dozens within a few blocks. The hotel is linked to most of the downtown businesses through the Skyway system (a network of pedestrian bridges between major buildings in the core)- so you never need to go outside to get almost anywhere. Free continental breakfast is included and this has some added items like hard boiled eggs and b'fast sandwiches. Rooms are upgraded, but still small compared to newer hotels. Direct TV is available on decent equipment, but it's still direct TV - yuck. One lobby bar seemed to be quite busy on the weekend. This hotel is downtown and can be noisy at night. Rooms are air-conditioned, but not the hallways. Business centre is a little under maintained. Good value for the dollar.

Room Tip: Go higher up in the building

Great service by the front desk. Staff was friendly but the buffet was terrible! Only bagged items such as breakfast burgers. Yogurt was in an opened table and juices were not in container - we had to open it ourselves from a fridge and it wasn’t in individual containers. Mm next time I’ll try a La Quinta Inn or a Comfort Suite.

This is an unusual hotel. It is on the top floors of the St Paul Athletic Club and it does not appear like the usual hotel from the outside. The lobby is impressive, but dark and quiet. There is a bar, but no restaurant. There are plenty of places to eat nearby. We wanted a drink at the bar, but there was no bartender. We had to ask someone at the front desk to come over and serve us. Breakfast room was the same -- large, dimly lit and sparse. The food was okay, but not great and when things ran out, staff was hard to find.
The room was fine with a nice bathroom and the size was not a problem. What was a problem was waking to a screeching sound in the morning from the light rail stop below the window. I recommend not getting a room facing toward the south. The rest of the rooms seem quiet.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms over light rail stop.

Needed a place to stay after the concert at the Xcel Energy Center. Checked prices online with hotels near the center & Hotel 340 rates were the best. Was within walking distance and loved the grand décor. Only complaint was no view from our window (interior wall) & the footboard needed to be fixed. Breakfast was good, offered a lot of options. Would stay again when in the area.

OK, we were staying here for 3 nights over Memorial day weekend to attend a wedding. The hotel is "elegant old" with atmosphere of bygone days, so I was expecting the room to be on the smaller side, but the room was large, modern, tasteful, clean, extremely comfortable, as was the bathroom. Service was friendly. Breakfast was included and pretty good... Really a great value. Parking was $17/night with in/out privileges at the parking lot next door...
