This was our first visit to the History Museum and my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it. SO much information about Minnesota that is exhibited in different ways. Loved the 1968 exhibit. Brought back memories of things we havent seen or thought of since we were small children. We also enjoyed and learned alot about weather in Minnesote. The exhibit of tornados was fascinating and quite real!

This Minnesota museum is only a few minutes from downtown St. Paul and the State Capital. I have visited this place a few times and each one was informational. For a first time visitor it gives a good historical overview of the state of Minnesota and its unique attributes from the territorial days to recent events. It can be enjoyed by all ages. Admission is not that expensive. They have also good gift shops. They have a fine selection of railroads histories of the area.

We stopped by the Minnesota History Center primarily to see the special exhibit "1968" which was really fun for someone who lived through that era. We particularly liked the music section and game. We just had a short time to visit the perpetual exhibits which were nice but I don't think there were enough hands-on things for younger kids. Exhibits are heavy into reading. I have used the research area in the past for some genealogy work and that was great. Volunteers throughout are very helpful.

This place is in a convenient to downtown location, just off the Freeway for out of town visitors.
The building is massive with lots of space and interesting exhibits. Went recently to the 1968 exhibit. While not necessarily Minnesota focused, it was fun to compare and contrast to today's similar challenges.

there are always rotating special exhibits highlighting Minnesota history from Native American through settlers and up to recent immigrant cultural impact. They do a nice job giving contect on what was happening in the rest of the workd at the same time.

Really enjoyed this museum and its excellent exhibits. We explored life in a tipi and followed the traders in birchbark canoes and enjoyed spending time in a sod house. This museum has taken a house from St. Paul and reconstructed different rooms of the house with the variety of inhabitants over the years. It was amazing to see how the changes occurred over generations, as well as the ethnic changes in the neighborhood. The exhibit on 1968 was touching for those of us who lived during that time and informative for younger members of our party. Well spent afternoon ending with lots of purchases in the gift shop.
