“Amazing view on Downtown”
Review of IDS Building

IDS Building
Reviewed 6 February 2016 via mobile

I had the opportunity to visit IDS Building reaching the last floor. From there I could see how the other skyscrapers in Downtown were so smaller, from that height I could admire the entire area around Minneapolis. It was fun and very suggestive!

IDS center is basically just a massive office tower. It offers great views of the Twin Cities area, but the top floors are not open to the public unless you work upstairs, or attend an event/party on the top floor. The main lobby serves a an indoor public square where several skyways intersect. There are some generic chain stores, banks and restaurants that cater primarily to the business people who work nearby. If it's a cold day, the place is very busy, since people come in there to stay work. Otherwise it's quite unremarkable.

Had a meeting in the IDS building in the Planets room on the 50th floor. Located next to The Marquette hotel is the IDS office building but will offer incredible views. From the new Viking stadium to the Mississippi River, to the Foshay Tower, to Target Field, you can see it all. You can wander to the different sides of the 50th floor for virtually a 360 degree view of Minneapolis. Don't miss this if you get a chance.

The IDS tower is just an office building. It used to have a restaurant and observation deck in it's upper levels, but they are long gone.

Windows on Minnesota is an event center run by the Marquette hotel.

There are restaurants, shops, and banks in the Crystal Court. It is in the very heart of Minneapolis and is attached to the Skyway system.

If you happen to be in the downtown area of Minneapolis around lunch time and want a trip down memory lane at the same time, stop in at the IDS Building and visit the restaurant. If you're lucky and early, you can ask for the "Mary Tyler" seat featured at the start of her old television show. Nostalgia is worth something. The food is good too and the view of the people moving through the building adds to the experience.
