I stayed at Bury House for 5 nights on business in Ely and much enjoyed the welcome and quality of the accommodation. At 6'1, I had slight issues with the low beams in my room and, more particularly, in the bathroom and inside the shower. That aside, the room was clean and fresh and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast was tasty and with daily specials to keep you interested! Lovely!

We have just returned from a one night stay here in the 2 rooms available. Both were spotless, the double on the 1st floor and a single on the 2nd. There are a few beams to watch out for and some steps where you might not expect them but these are not problems, they are character.
Emma, the owner pointed everything out when we got there and was very friendly and welcoming.
The breakfast could not be faulted and was one of the best I have had.
This place is ideal for visits to Ely and the surrounding area. There is a nice pub just up the road for meals at night too.

You've booked an unknown B&B. After a long day travelling, working, touristing or whatever you're wondering what to expect, if there's anywhere to park, what the hosts will be like etc. You arrive and find that you can park right outside the front door. Very handy. On ringing the bell, the door is answered by a lovely lady with an equally lovely smile and a very warm welcome. The lady is Emma, the hostess, and she shows us to the room. It is almost a (mini) suite with the door opening into a small room which has a small desk and chair and a nice window seat next to the tea/coffee facilities. In the corner is a small fridge containing milk, bottled water and drinking glasses. Very nice touch. To the right of the room a door opens to a very well appointed bathroom (mind the step though!) which has everything you'd need except your toothbrush, so if you were in need of an unplanned stopover that's all you'd have to buy in (probably at the Nisa shop just down the road). To the left of the room is a nicely spacious bedroom, which has a double and a single bed for use as a family room, a lovely comfy armchair, suitcase stand, television and plenty of interesting reading material. Being the beautiful old house that it is, it also has a cruck beam across the middle at about 5'6" from the floor, which taller folk than us will have to be mindful of!. Going back to the small desk you will find a card on which you select your required items should you choose to have a cooked breakfast. As well as the usual items, Emma also had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on offer at the time of our visit. You also indicate the time that you will be down for breakfast. Being Sunday, we came down at 9am to breakfast at the huge old table with a selection of cereals and lovely chopped fresh fruit and yoghurt available. Our cooked meals arrived (cooked perfectly) along with toast and a cafetiere of nice fresh coffee. Excellent.
Two unfortunate points: One, we only had the one night - would have loved to have stayed at least another night. Two, and a bad one. Every B&B we stay at in future will be judged against Bury House and Emma has set the bar very high indeed - I can hear us now wherever we stay; "it's nice...but it's not Bury House is it?"!

My sister and I stayed here recently while visiting Cambridge, Ely and the Fens. It's a beautiful renovated farmhouse on the edge of a quiet village, two good pubs within walking distance. We were warmly welcomed by Emma. The room was very thoughtfully decorated and comfortable and equipped with everything we could possibly need. We were served excellent breakfasts with her own eggs and locally sourced produce - a variety of fresh fruit, and a choice of waffles or smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. We will not hesitate to stay here again and would strongly recommend this B&B to anyone visiting this area. Thank you, Emma.

Room Tip: If you're taller than average, you may want to mention this because of the lovely old beams in our bed- and bathroom.

Super accommodation beating hotels any day.
Clean, comfortable and spacious plus reading area thoughtfully provided. Attentive host ensured that all our needs were met.
The location was perfect for visiting Cambridge and Ely with a good local hostelry providing choice of evening meals.

TripAdvisor's requirement for minimum of 200 words per review is unnecessary and almost ensured no review given as just wanted to confirm the excellence of the b and b
