We were in Grand Portage for a wedding and styed at the casino. It is a very small gaming facility. Also, they were under construction and the only place to eat was the deli. They ran out for items on the menu in the deli as well.
The rooms were ok, nothing special. There was a mouse in the room on the last night, wanted to change rooms but it was 2:30 AM and was not about to deal with the hassle. We told personnel and also found out there was another room which reported a mouse as well.
Personnel were friendly and nice and the area is stunning. Would go back when ALL facilities are in operations.

My husband and I went away for a weekend getaway. The room was nice. Check in and out was speedy and everyone was polite and efficient. What was awe full was there was no restaurant and it was not open due to construction. During time of booking you would think that at least they would advise you of this. Terrible customer service

We made reservations for one of the cabins (2 bed rooms), didn't realize until we checked in that the cabin was 3 miles south of the lodge. Even the clerk at the desk didn't know! It was spectacular, right on Lake Superior; It was quiet, away from everything; It was clean and functional; No cell phone service, No TV; No amenities; However I can't wait to come back and spend more time in this quiet peaceful location. Small kitchen if you want to cook or just have coffee. Spectacular views of the night sky away from civilization; great for astronomy buffs.

Great venue for a 50th birthday party. Approximately 45 min drive from Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada. Onsite restaraunt, bar and snack bar. Spacious clean rooms with a lakeside view of Superior. Hiking trails and of course gaming at the casino and yes, the machines do pay.

This was our most expensive stay on our week-long trip. I was disappointed. The room was nothing special. There was a leather or faux leather occasional chair with no lamp by it for reading; however, after sitting in it, I wouldn't have used it anyway. It was like a rock! The towels were nice quality-thicker than most motels.
The check-in was awkward, young Chinese girls who seemed confused and the process was chaotic. They seemed unsure of most of what they were doing and had a lot of trouble getting into the computer.

The key cards were finicky and didn't work right away--apparently an issue as others were going back to the desk for a fix.

For the hefty price, one would think they would encourage gambling at the casino. We got 2 $5 vouchers. The cards didn't work right and that was a pain. We promptly lost the $5 for each of us and left.

On Friday and Saturday you have one choice for dinner-a $19.99 buffet. I eat a 1/2 cup of potatoes, a few pieces of meat and a salad--why would I pay $20 for that? The only other choice is a "Deli" - more high-priced food that is frozen and heated up. There is no where else to eat in Grand Portage.

Breakfast in the morning was decent and prices were comparable to elsewhere.
