“Great Bakery”
Review of How Sweet It Is

How Sweet It Is
Ranked #5 of 5 Bakeries in Duluth
Cuisines: Deli
Description: Baking professionally since 1994, Eileen started How Sweet It Is Cakes in 1994 out of her home in Portland. This turned out to be a smart move as the cake industry was just on an upswing. Once people found about her unique style, the orders started rolling in. By shear will power and a baptism by fire she managed to turn out cake after cake and within a few short weeks Eileen had created a bakery to be reckoned with! Originally from Duluth; she moved back home in 2007 to marry her college sweetheart. Mrs. Eileen Brown quickly jumped back in the game and restarted her bakery up in a church basement located in Cloquet but quickly outgrew her location. The bakery has now partnered with The Duluth Grill in Duluth’s friendly Lincoln Park neighborhood. Eileen and her staff make everything from scratch. Often referred to as The Cake Boss of Duluth, she caters over 400 weddings a year and is always striving to provide the best product, service and imaginative baked item in the market.

We ordered a couple of red velvet cupcakes and a champagne cake. We also bought some day-old chocolate cupcakes. The frosting (of which there was plenty) was addicting. The only complaint I would have is that they did not have boxes big enough for the cake (too tall) so we had to take it with the top open. I would hope they remedy that situation. Either way we will be back. Best bakery we have had in quite a while. It is located in the Duluth Grill now.

This quaint bakery offers a small section of GLUTEN FREE cupcakes and macaroons (and if your lucky, other GF deliciousness that day). Day-olds are reduced in price. Regular priced cupcakes are a little spendy, but yummy when you are in the mood for something sweet.

Quality! We enjoyed their ham and turkey sandwiches. We were with a group so everything was ordered for us; therefore, we didn't get to try their gluten-free bread. The regular bread looked good (we didn't eat it) and everyone else (30+ people) seemed to also enjoy their lunch. The sandwiches had meat, cheese, spinach and tomato on them along with mustard and mayo available. Sandwich came with chips, pickle, and a chocolate chip cookie (looked good, we didn't eat but others enjoyed).
