Description: El Charro, owned and operated by the Martin family, is renown for consistently providing authentic, delicious Mexican cuisine & their famous tacos. El Charro has always been a Fraser community staple, with a beautiful decor and unique atmosphere, with original Mexican recipes derived from Delia's parents, Consuelo and Rosalio Rendon. Great reviews and guest satisfaction have always been a priority for El Charros & the Martin family and have become pillars for their growth. Since its conception, George and Delia Martin and their young family, Ed, Jeff, Mark and Lynn, worked long hours to establish a thriving family oriented business they are very proud of. Following in the family tradition, the grandchildren also work at the restaurant, making it truly a family business. The original Fraser, Michigan location opened in 1971, with financial backing from George's parents, George, Sr. and Lila Martin. It was then a small full service establishment with a seating capacity of just over 45 patrons. El Charro quickly began to grow & In 1978, the capacity doubled in sized to 90 seats. In 1980 a new 60-seat restaurant with a convenient drive-thru window opened in St. Clair Shores. By 1992, the original Fraser location, still not large enough to accommodate the growing crowds, led to the construction of a new 240-seat restaurant in downtown Fraser. Its third location in Macomb, with seating for 120 patrons, opened to quite the fanfare in 2004. El Charros newest location was established in Troy with a seating capacity of 96 and just celebrated its second year anniversary. The Martin family would like to thank you for your business and invites everyone to "Experience the Essence of Mexico" at El Charro.

We are here visiting family and were looking for a place for dinner. This was close to where we were staying and had good reviews. Boy, am I glad I chose it! The service was great, and the food was too. I really liked the shredded beef chimichanga. Not sure if it is authentic Mexican -- and don't care! When food tastes this good, it is authentic enough for me!

Went to a conference with a fellow employee from out-of-town and I had asked him where he would like to go to lunch. He said he hasn't been to a good authenic Mexican restaurant in a long time. I asked him if he ever had a puffy taco. He ordered the combo plate and said it was one Mexican restaurant he has ever been too. It is now a must stop place whenever he comes to the area.

Love the convenience of Mexican on Rochester Rd north of Big Beaver. Been to the Fraser location many years ago and loved it. This place is equally good. Had the burrito and enchiladas- quite good.
Prices are very reasonable .
Service good and attentive even later in evening after 8, when some other eateries are winding down and trying to close.
Must try their signature puffy taco on a future visit.

Thank Jim M

Decided to check out this place near my office for lunch. Chips and two kinds of salsa came with the meal. We like super hot salsa -- these were very mild. We asked for and got some green salsa that was the best thing we tasted (appeared to be homemade). Very casual atmosphere. We had no problem being seated, ordering eating and paying in a one hour time frame.

We ordered the ground beef wet burrito lunch special. It was average size. Beans and rice were average portions and taste. Burrito was good; chili on top was okay -- not much melted cheese on top. Another guest at our table ordered a half sized fajita quesadilla and it was as large as our wet burrito. She said it was excellent. Puffy tacos at the next table looked interesting.

Lunch entrees were about $8.50 apiece. Service was fast and friendly. Would go again but would order something else.

I am typically not a huge fan of Mexican food, but the food here is delicious. The puffy tacos are amazing, as well as the fondue. Recently I had the Mahi Mahi salad, which was also very good.
