Price range: US$ 8 - US$ 15
Cuisines: Mexican
Description: El Charro, owned and operated by the Martin family, is renown for consistently providing authentic, delicious Mexican cuisine & their famous tacos. El Charro has always been a Fraser community staple, with a beautiful decor and unique atmosphere, with original Mexican recipes derived from Delia's parents, Consuelo and Rosalio Rendon. Great reviews and guest satisfaction have always been a priority for El Charros & the Martin family and have become pillars for their growth. Since its conception, George and Delia Martin and their young family, Ed, Jeff, Mark and Lynn, worked long hours to establish a thriving family oriented business they are very proud of. Following in the family tradition, the grandchildren also work at the restaurant, making it truly a family business. The original Fraser, Michigan location opened in 1971, with financial backing from George's parents, George, Sr. and Lila Martin. It was then a small full service establishment with a seating capacity of just over 45 patrons. El Charro quickly began to grow & In 1978, the capacity doubled in sized to 90 seats. In 1980 a new 60-seat restaurant with a convenient drive-thru window opened in St. Clair Shores. By 1992, the original Fraser location, still not large enough to accommodate the growing crowds, led to the construction of a new 240-seat restaurant in downtown Fraser. Its third location in Macomb, with seating for 120 patrons, opened to quite the fanfare in 2004. El Charros newest location was established in Troy with a seating capacity of 96 and just celebrated its second year anniversary. The Martin family would like to thank you for your business and invites everyone to "Experience the Essence of Mexico" at El Charro.

I discovered El Charro when I lived on the eastside and was overjoyed when it opened in Troy. The soft shell tacos are wonderful, especially the chicken tacos. The seasonings are just right, the salsa has just enough zing and the guacamole is some of the best I've had. I like going to El Charro either in the restaurant or via the drive-through. the service is good and I've never had a bad meal there. Worth stopping by for a quick meal.

If you really are a knowledgeable person looking for authentic Mexican food this place will disappointed you! The Queso Flamenco commonly called as Choriqueso for the one that know what I am talking about is just a mix vegetable synthetic cheese with some like-chorizo sauce that taste to something else!...... fried beans are really bad and not recognizable ....the only piece we recognized as authentic was the Pork Tamales that I am confident they buy from an authentic Mexican source.

Perfect.for people without cultural acumen and travel experience outside Michigan state!

Customer service was outstanding but the food quality and authenticity is not to the same level.

My wife and I dine here every friday night and remain so pleased- you barely sit down and the chips ahoy man comes with a fresh basket of chips and TWO bowls of salsa. The wet or open face burrito with black beans and rice is the best thing on the menu. We have been coming for years and so when we order "the best, please" they know what we mean. During the holidays you can buy EL CHARRO discount cards- we stock up!.

Casual Mexican restaurant. Soft shell tacos are a specialty. Ordering a la carte is a bit less expensive. You won't feel as stuffed afterwards.

People have always told me to get the tacos at El Charro. So when my team at work went there for lunch I finally had their tacos. They are a nice mix between a taco and quesadilla and have an unique fluffiness to the shell you don't see anywhere else. The chips and salsa at the beginning are good too. They didn't appear to overuse cilantro so you could get stuff without it in it, which is good when you don't like cilantro.
