i had stayed at the park place hotel and our room was very very small there was hair in our bath tub. we were also located in a cordoor area which you walk through a door to get to your room so all night we heard people walking out there door and the hallway door. Would not recommend staying at this hotel

This was my fourth stay at the Park Place and I still think it's one of the best places to stay in downtown Traverse City. Each time has been a good experience and generally, for an older hotel, I find the quality of the stay pretty steady. We had a king room with a bay view on the 8th floor. The room was very clean, the bed comfortable, and the presence of a microwave and refrigerator is always nice so that we can enjoy some of the wine and snacks we pick up in our travels about the area.

The clientele of this hotel tends to be adults and often older adults. Although it has a pool, it's not on the beach and kids prefer the sand and the sun. I like that, though, because on a romantic weekend, we want it quieter than a more kid-friendly hotel might be. The only knock I have on the PP is their desk staff is not overly friendly... and I can live with that if all else is good!

One of the other reasons we continue to come back here is its central location. Each night we can walk to any number of great restaurants and brewpubs. There's lots of shopping ... boutiques, galleries, and a nice bookstore, all within a couple blocks! It's also within 30-60 minutes of some of the best wineries, beaches, lighthouses, orchards, and other attractions you'll find anywhere! It may be a little old-fashioned and not as "cool" as being on the water, but the Park Place is a nice place to launch your tours of the TC region!

Room Tip: We find that rooms facing the bay, while a bit more expensive, tend to be quieter. I've noticed "loading dock" noises in other rooms on previous visits. Not always, but worth considering. Also, the Historic Tower is nice. The non-tower rooms are newer and not high enough for a view.

I loved this hotel! My husband and I stayed a weekend there, and the place was very nice. We stayed in the tower, on the 6th floor with a bay view. The room had big windows and a comfy large bed. The bed was about as big as the room, but we didn't mind! The whole place was very clean, including the bathroom. It had a large window and vintage tiles floors, and a very high ceiling. All very pretty.
While we were there, TC got hit by a huge snow storm and the hotel lost power. But the staff was very nice and gave us a great comp. I would definitely stay here again. The location is ideal, you can walk everywhere on Front street. The only thing I didn't like were the thin walls. We could hear everything our neighbors did in their room.

Room Tip: Bay view rooms in the tower have great windows and a view of downtown/the bay.

This was our destination for a girls weekend away. Nicely appointed rooms, historic yet updated. Clean and quiet. Walk to everything you could ever want to do on a weekend!

Room Tip: The "tower" rooms are in the oldest part of the hotel, which are the prettiest but smaller than those in the wing.

Spent three nights recently in this hotel while in town over the holidays for a sports tournament. Yes the hotel is older, but it was very clean and we enjoyed our stay. Hotel cleaning staff was excellent and very accomodating for our crazy schedule. Best thing about hotel is location and we took advantage of it by walking to local shops and restaurants each day. Our rooms were very spacious, however we were not on the tower side of the hotel. Definitely could use newer mattresses. Pool and gym were a bit out of the way, however I was pleased to find lockers, showers and changing rooms all in the excercise area. Overall, if you are looking for a quaint, DOWNTOWN hotel - this is very nice. If you only want modern, updated rooms- try one of the newer hotels down the road.

Room Tip: Family of 5 can easily and comfortably stay in one room with roll-away if not on tower side of hotel. Rooms there are quite large.
