“A return to Strawberry Hill”

This was my friend and my second visit to Strawberry Hill. Why change where we wanted to stay from our last year's trip to Suttons Bay for wine tasting, great food and relaxation, when you may have one of the sweetest simple views in the area, easy to find, comfortable price, warm and cozy, and a place we did not want to leave!
Greeted by Vinny (who took a 1/2 of love during one of our morning adirondack chair/bay/sunrise moments), we found comfy Strawberry with 2 very comfy twin beds (great for girlfriend trips), plenty of cooking supplies (making a great dinner), hot shower and towels, cute porch and the best bluff to sit and watch the sunset or sunrise with your favorite beverage. Excellently located to Suttons Bay, Traverse City, wineries, restaurants and roads of lovely views! Cindy is wonderful and helpful with new restaurant ideas and nice chat! It is just awesome! Hope you enjoy the sharing of the pics of memories!

“Clean Cabin with a Spectacular View”
Reviewed 10 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

This cabin is delightful if you are looking for a relatively spartan "old school" vacation rental. It has all of the necessities for living year round i.e. stove, refrigerator, beds, lights, shower, even a bit of heat........however, if you are looking for upgrades or the internet - they will not be available here. The beds are two twins, just like grandmother slept in and separated by a table full of books - ideal if you don't intend to cuddle. We expected more insects and spiders but were pleasantly surprised in that the cedar tree's kept them away - did not see more than one in the cabin all week. Our proprietor was right next door but pleasantly virtually invisible other than the occasional walk through outdoors with her small, happy dog (nicknamed by us "Vinny") who did show up on occasion when grilling or eating outdoors. Unknown if he was "allowed" to eat table food, we fed him every meal! We truly enjoyed the completely different experience to what we normally do on vacation and would recommend as long as you know what to expect in advance. We walked the stairs to a very rocky and tiny beach twice a day for exercise (about 100 steps) and walked the mile to a very nice sandy public beach almost every day because we wanted to spend time together walking and talking. The area is beautiful, lush and within 15 minutes by car from most attractions, towns and local wineries and within 40 minutes of the best of MIchigans wineries on Old Mission Peninsula. We enjoyed a local farmers market on Sunday (it moves weekly), shopped at a very nice local market called Hanson's in Sutton's Bay (7 minutes by car) they have fresh veggies, meats and cheeses.

Management Response
12 Jul 2015
Although rustic in location & character, use of the words "relatively spartan" to describe this log cabin's interior is a bit baffling given the wall-to-wall carpeting, upholstered headboards & bedskirts, area rugs, pillows, shawls, throws, artwork & sculpture, premium natural fiber bed linens, well-outfitted kitchen and every furnishing we could think of to make this part-time rental retreat and some-time private guest house a pleasing & padded "feathered nest."
