My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and were very impressed with our very first bed and breakfast experience. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating, the breakfast was very good each day, and the room was clean (which is the most important thing in my opinion). We were impressed with the pool and that it was heated to a comfortable temperature. The location is very close to the beach, just a couple blocks. I also particularly enjoyed the cookies in the evening. We would definitely recommend the Sand Castle Inn and hopefully we will be back in the near future!

We had never stayed at a B&B before but were pleasantly surprised and would definitely do it again - especially this one. It was clean and had great service and excellent food! Breakfast was delicious each morning; the hostess served french toast casserole the first day, an egg casserole the second day, and blueberry pancakes the third day. There was also lots of fruit, juice, coffee, tea, cereal, toast, yogurt, etc. available. We enjoyed sitting on the front enclosed porch to eat, although when it's too cold to sit on the porch, there isn't a whole lot of other space to sit inside. There is a fridge for guests' use, and cookies and snacks out each day. We used the Economy Special from the website and originally booked the Courtyard room, but got upgraded to the Majestic Suite upon arrival - definitely recommend using the specials! The room was spacious and comfortable. It has an electric fireplace which we used because it was chilly when we were there, and it warmed up the room quickly. The room also has a huge private balcony. The bathroom was clean and had toiletries provided. The location of the B&B is perfect, steps away from the beach and a short walk (half a mile) to the downtown area - we didn't even need to use our car.

Room Tip: The Majestic Suite is upstairs - it was quiet, cozy and private.

We stayed one night during the Icebreaker Festival. The B & B had a great location, close to the lake and a comfortable walk to the downtown area. We stayed in the Trellis Room, which I wouldn't recommend. I already knew from reading other reviews that the room lacked privacy and was noisy due to being next to the kitchen but we didn't have a whole lot of choices as everything else was booked due to the festival. Very expensive for what is was...BUT, I would stay here again - just pick a different room.

Room Tip: Don't choose the Trellis Room, you'll be disappointed.

We enjoyed The Royal Suite on the second floor for a weekend getaway from Chicago. Definitely get a second or third floor room. The ones facing the front have cool curved walls too. Bathroom accommodations were sufficient, with toiletry items provided. Food and snacks were excellent! Quiet location with access to everything and private parking. And the hostess was welcoming and wonderful. Would definitely return again!

We found the inn to be friendly and accomadating. We chose a large room on the second floor with a small private balcony. The room was clean and comfortable. Unfortunately the inn does not have a lot of common space for guests -one large room. About the only place to have breakfast is out on the wraparound porch. The lack of space is why the rating is lower.
