Anyone staying in Saugatuck would thoroughly enjoy the Maplewood Hotel. The location is near downtown shopping and the waterfront. Even though the hotel is quite old,(which is part of the charm) it's spotless and the staff is very friendly. The breakfast is more than adequate and quite good. One quick addition, if you tend to prefer a more modern Hotel such as Holiday Inn, this may not be the place for you.

The Maplewood is an historic hotel that has been refurbished is wonderful style. The décor is wonderful, the people are friendly and very helpful. The breakfast is excellent, with a freshly prepared special each day, as well as fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, etc which are always available. The public areas are warm and friendly and inviting.

Room Tip: Any rooms are great!

My husband and I loved our stay in this charming house. The staff was wonderful and the location could not be beat! We parked our car and never came back for it or needed it in the 3 days we were in Saugatuk. Staying here allowed us to walk to shops and restaurants/bars in the area. We highly recommend this hotel.

Hotel is in great location in town, walk to everything. Decorated with antiques and has charming homey feeling. Has a shared library room, open living area with piano and DVD's to use. Our room was quiet, clean with comfortable queen bed. Provided ironing board, iron and hairdryer. Staff was very helpful and friendly too. Included a very nice breakfast buffet of pastries, fruit, yogurt, cereals and also an entree of eggs and bacon. The pool was already closed for the season but looked nice although not very big. Not really a place for young kids but we would definately stay here again.

Let me start with a positive, location for the shops and water front. The living area is nice and cozy. The B&B needs updating. First they do not have enough parking spaces for all the guests. You drop your suitcase off then drive around the streets trying to find a space. If you use your car you start over looking for parking spot. We stayed room 210 and it was terrible. The tv was so small I had to get my glasses. One chair in the room and no place to put a laptop. Use the ironing board as a desk. No place to put your toiletries, sink was in the bedroom. When we arrived check in was easy but found out a larger room was available but not offered, we would have taken. Breakfast was nothing special. When we went to check out no one was around. Next time we will stay in South Haven B&B and drive the 20 min to shop. Will not go back to Maplewood.
