We usually visit the lower-priced wing of the Chambard on a yearly basis as we stop by Alsace for a few days. This year was no exception but we were disappointed... The food was somehow lacking personnality versus what we remembered. My wife said I've been saying this for a couple of years now... and my wife is always right (aren't they all?!?). Net, still a decent place, but we had a much better gastronomic time in other locations we visited, for a similar amount of money. The Boss O. Nasti was onsite that day (although in the other kitchen) as we saw him with some customers, maybe he should stop by the Winstub's kitchen once in a while to check what's happening there as it could very well be going downhill...

this bistro's food comes out of the same kitchen as the michelin 2 star restaurant next door......food was excellent and usually generous portions.......the wine list was just ok and the service was slow when they were full[a bit understaffed]......the 3 course prix fixe menu is a great bargain at 32 or 34 euros....a definite repeat

We had a great dinner in this cosy restaurant. We ordered the three course menu. The starters were excellent: onion cake and a terine of wild boar.
For the main course we had the fish dish and the sauerkraut. The sauerkraut was a huge portion with 6 types of sausages and three slices of bacon. The sauerkraut was very tasty though and so were the sausages.
Desert was (again) a big slice of ice cream cake with whipped cream. Delicious!

Service was swift with both English and German speaking waitresses.

Dogs are very welcome!

Local restaurant (Winstub) based at a high- priced hotel.
Plates vary from the typical choucroute to the local fish.
Not a cosy place, wooden benches, scarred wooden tables, typical Alsatian pillows on the chairs and benches.
Wine selection is a bit on the basic side.
Prefer the choice to a fix menu.
