Boarders Inn and Suites by Cobblestone Munising

Our plan was to camp but it was pouring down rain for two days while we visited Munising. First of all, hotels in the area know they have you trapped. This hotel is not worth the $150 per night stay. If you have to stay here book ahead and save what you can. While the room was generally clean, it is just a hotel room. There is not much within walking distance although town is not far away (3 miles). Too much for this room!

The room was clean and updated. Very nice. The coffee pot was in the bathroom so needless to say we did not use it. Breakfast was minimal. There were eggs, no meat, sausage and gravy with biscuits (didn't try as not my favorite), a few muffins, waffles, juice and coffee. The pool was freezing even though when we walked into the pool area it seemed warm. All the warmth was coming from the hot tub. They did have a very helpful map that was on the counter at check in.

The pros: Super clean, owned by people who own local exterminating company and have bedbug sniffing dogs that come in regularly, so felt comfortable with that aspect. Reasonable price considering it is high season and other options like the Holiday Inn were almost twice as expensive (though it has a lake view).

Firm bed - this could be a pro or con for you depending on your preference.

Cons: No elevator, so request a ground floor when making reservations if that is a concern for you. Staff wasn't very friendly even when you are friendly to them, which is disappointing.

Room Tip: No elevator, so ask for a ground level room if needed.

After a late decision to take a trip to isle royale, our return had us looking for a hotel in munising. The options were limited and do to the reviews it looked like this was our best option. Unfortunately for the public the accommodations available know there is not much to pick from and charge accordingly. We paid 156 for the night. And while the staff was friendly and coutesous . The room lacked, it had black Mildred on the ceiling of the shower.. most irritating was after our showers the smoke alarm went off.

Not sure how to begin. First, registration was a disaster.....another customer interrupted process and we had to witness a very uncomfortable exchange between the customer and registration clerk. Then, another staff person was going off duty and was clearly overheard expressing HOW GLAD she was to getting off. The staff person left on duty kept making "remarks " about staffing, management, etc. Next, the TV did not work. Breakfast next am was typical, blah food and too small. For the price, this was beyond disappointing. Management, please train your staff and invest in appropriate staffing levels. When we left for dinner, over 15 people were in line waiting
