Not sure how this place became no. 1 place to stay in Khiva.
Location definitely great - inside Ichan Qala. Lots of restaurants around.
I booked via a very popular 3rd party booking site. This place never replied to my emails for booking confirmation. Finally had to contact via instagram that too delayed response and tone of arrogance.
No way a 4 star property (as mentioned in google maps). No body would be expecting a 4 star property in this place but no need to lie as well. Based on facilities, a well placed 2 star property at max.
The receptionist (a slim guy) is a disgrace in the name of hospitality. Many included amenities (ex. bottled water, slipper etc.) were not available in the room. When I asked this guy said they only provide only when asked. What kind of nonsense is this?
Room photos and room provided did not match. Not even with the photos of their own website. Our room bathroom door was not locking. They even didn't check whether these basic functionalities were working or not while assigning a room. First they asked to adjust, later only option is to repair while we won't be at room. Not sure if this represent the so called no. 1 hotel in Khiva.
I stayed in 6 hotels in our 10 days Uzbekistan journey. In all bookings, local taxes or charges as applicable were specially mentioned (pay separately or pay extra at hotel). This hotel despite being marked as all local taxes included, charged extra. Never provided any receipt even after promising to provide a receipt.
There were another girl at reception who would always say yes to everything but neither understand nor act. Why put such a person at reception?
Breakfast options were ok but refill is a big problem. Also hot items were not maintained properly.
We had a pathetic experience at this hotel. Glad that all Uzbekistan bad experience was limited to this hotel only - rest all amazing.
Sleep quality was ok. Thank god we were tired after day long exploration and had only one night to spend here.
Their courtesy to keep your luggage post check-out for few hours was appreciated.
Not at all recommended if you care about trust, transparency and hospitality.
