“Adequate Hotel”
Reviewed 24 June 2011

I stayed here for 2 nights in June of 2011 - I didn't spend much time at the hotel, but found it adequate. It's very dated like many hotels in this region. in my experience it was clean, though the restaurant had a very awkward vibe. I chose to eat my meals alone in my room so I didn't have 6 bored waitors staring at me! The food was okay, and service was fine. Nothing too great, but at least I was comfortable!

Bodh Gaya is a town known for religious pilgrims who come to see the Bodhi tree. That said, there don't tend to be a lot of westerners and the standards reflect that. We stayed here for two nights while in Bodh Gaya. The sheets were dirty and there were mosquitos in the room, despite the plug-ins. (With frequent power outages, I'm not sure how helpful they actually were). The room was large, but we spent all of our time in our mosquito tent, particularly since it's a malaria zone anyway. We stopped into the lobby of the Lotus Nikko to see it since it is #1, but it was undergoing renovations. From what we saw, at least our hotel looks great from the outside and lobby. I'd say this is a below average hotel by western standards, but an average hotel by Indian standards. It definitely could have been worse. The restaurant food was good. I think hotel expectations have to be in line with the city the hotel is in. Price was a little high, all things considered.
