My friend and I went here after realizing that the Dutch Village thing was just rides, petting zoos, and mini-golf (and it didn't appeal to us). Being in our forties, the costumed Dutch girls suggested we go see the Windmill Gardens. When you're right, you're right lol. You don't think about a street organ or a windmill being that fascinating until you actually see it. We thought it was pretty neat! Of course, this isn't the time of year for tulips (which I didn't initially realize. I had no idea what their lifespan was like and that they wouldn't be there). There wasn't much to see in that regard, but going up in the Windmill was really neat and worthwhile. The gift shop had lots of cool stuff too and I bought more than I thought I would. There were also some areas (in the only building that had a bathroom) that played videos that talked about the windmill. We used that time to sit and cool off as well (it was super hot outside). I would definitely want to take the rest of my family to see this place!

Worth seeing even when it is not tulip season. We really enjoyed visiting the authentic windmill. Great setting to take a walk too!

Dutch design wind mill that still grinds grain when the wind is 15-20mph. Visit and climb the steps to the many levels inside and engage the guides for an explanation of the mechanics of the mill.
Gardens and ponds and geese to wander. Buildings to explore a video history of the construction and operation of the wind mill. Sadly we were too late for the tulips but many other flowers in bloom.

This was a lovely excursion to see the working windmill. The movies were simple but informative. They are on loops. The grounds are beautiful. We were there after tulip time, and the other flowers were gorgeous. Such a treat. Nice walk on a mild day to the windmill. The carousel horses are for children only (including teen), but adults can sit on the benches on the carousel. Only ride every half hour, one time. We did not take in any other parts of the island. Lovely place!

IMO this is the top tourist attraction in Holland. $12 per adult.
The visitor center has 2 films. One giving the history of the town & windmill. The other was a demonstration on how the windmill works.
There are bathrooms there too.

There's an authentic street calliope type organ. A carousel that wasn't running the Friday we were there. A miniature village, which I really liked.

The gem of the park is De Zwann (the swan) windmill, which was brought over from the Europe Holland back in the 30s or 40s. It's very picturesque & would have been more so if the tulips were in bloom. Fortunately, there were a lot of blooms from other flowers that were beautiful.
There's also a gravel trail that goes around the property.
There were supposed to be Friesian horses there, but they were not there.

We spent an hour & a half there & I felt we saw everything we wanted. We had a pleasant time.
